That should be fine as hydrangea heads can be huge depending on what you are getting. Are you using silks or real?

It's hard to tell how big the vase actually is from looking at a computer image, so I don't think that I can really give you a good answer. Hydrangeas are available at a lot of supermarkets for pretty reasonable prices. Maybe you could buy some and play around to see what looks best.

We used hydrangeas and yellow freesia for our centerpieces. Each centerpiece had 3 hydrangea stems and 4 freesia, but our vases were really big.

We used single hydrangeas in small mason jars. I would say you might want to consider doing a grouping of 2-3 vases on each table. The vase will be full enough with one bloom, but the table might look bare

I think it depends how big the vases are, and how big the flowers are on the stem. Some are pretty huge and others are smaller. I carried a single stem of hydrangeas as my bouquet for our JOP ceremony. It looked like a small bouquet, but was just a single stem.

@Lisa T, it is also an economical way to go. We only had 8 tables, so we needed under 30 blooms for our centerpieces. Then we had some larger displays made with hydrangeas as well for the entryway and bar area.

I happened to have a container like yours and a silk hydrangea that is about 6" across. This is what it looks like if you use one hydrangea.

Here's ours. I believe she used 2 hydrangea plus a few roses, but I think if you used mason jars, one hydrangea in each vase would look great like Ellen pictured. Or you can mix in one rose or one spray of something just for texture.

Honestly I loved our flowers, but I think the napkins and the favor boxes really helped to balance out the tablescape, and those were virtually free - we were going to have favors anyway, so displaying them on the table didn't cost us anything, and the napkins were free. Just remember you have other elements to work with.

I think it all depends on the size of the vase.

However, I also agree with Kris. Adding other things such as napkins and favor boxes help finish off the tablescape. Other things to add are some simple votives, menu cards and/or chargers.

    Ok - few things.

If you are getting the flowers yourself, and budget is on the mind, I have had a lot of luck with Sam's Club or Costco for "bulk" fresh flowers.

These are 4-6" also known as "mini" hydreangeas. I'd maybe consider 3 per vase if it's bigger than 4" across.

Here's 20 stems for $48.96. Shipping is usually pretty reasonable, and they're always fresh!

Good luck with your centerpieces!! They will look great!

I am planning to use hydrangeas for my centerpieces as well. I went to Micheals and played around with some stuff. This is a 2ft vase and about 4" wide and the flowers were fake in this pic but I am using real. this was 6 hydrangeas....

I shot a wedding recently that had hydrangea centerpieces with a few roses and some tiny white flowers as an accent. The design is simple and it should be fairly inexpensive to find some roses and small accent flowers to fill the vase!
