cdc Coronavirus wants events over 50 cancelled

Jen, on March 16, 2020 at 7:07 AM Posted in Planning 0 5
How’s everyone else handling this 8 week suggested cancelling of events. I have 100 people on my list for May 2nd with over 60 confirmed attending. Just emailed my venue not sure their plan. What a stressful time for us; no one plans for this. Plus the travel bans; we were planning to go to Europe.

Just saw this this morning. It definitely changes everything. I was supposssd to be in June and am going to try to postpone. It would actually work put in our best interest to postpone anyways. Plus I would hate to have anyone getting sick because of my wedding. They say 8 weeks however this is just the tip of the iceberg. I assume it will get much worse. Look at Italy and how bad they have had it.

I’m panicking. Our date is 4/26/2020 and we have right around 100 people. Everything is booked and paid for. It’s quite a big production, not as far as headcount, but in terms of detail and elegance. I’m not trying to sound snooty, just painting a picture. Anyway, our honeymoon starts the next morning for two weeks in Hawaii. Postponing doesn’t seem like an option, but I’d also need to make sure we can even get our marriage license if city halls are closed. If our venue cancels, I have our family church our in the country around the corner from our farm. Thinking ceremony at the church and reception at the farm. But the tricky part would be reaching out to everyone who’s already RSVP’d and letting them know we’re making it an intimate wedding, under 50 including vendors. Idk man, I’m still processing all of this.

I hear you it’s a lot to process! We paid for almost everything for our wedding and our honeymoon was paid for. We were planning on going to Paris. Luckily we can cancel our Airbnb’s and get refunds but I have no idea what will happen with our flights. So much a stressful time

Our wedding is May 9th hope we dont have to postpone our wedding we have at least 150 guest but it's mostly people we work with and family. I really dont see a reason to cancel or postpone anything. I just hope they dont make it mandatory to stay home for 8 weeks then we really would have to postpone.

I am getting married on 04/09 and despite the new recommendation, my venue still says business as usual.
