Catholic Wedding Invitation Wording

Karen, on February 20, 2013 at 8:48 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7

I'm looking for the correct wording for a Catholic wedding ceremony without a Nuptial Mass where the bride, groom, and both sets of parents are hosting together. I have:

Together with

Mr. and Mrs. Bride's Parents

and

Mr. and Mrs. Groom's Parents

BrideFirst Middle Last

and

GroomFirst Middle Last

Request the honor of your presence

...and then I get stuck. I know that we can use "Sacrament of Holy Matrimony" but I don't know how to phrase it. Help?

Thanks. Unfortunately, that website won't let me see invitation templates unless I rent tuxes from them. Smiley smile

The issue I'm having is that since we're hosting, we can't say "Karen and Zach request the honor of your presence at the marriage of...Karen and Zach."

Maybe "Request the honor of your presence at the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony" or "as they celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony." Or "at their marriage as they celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony?"

I feel like I will have MANY people judging the wording so I have to get it exactly right.

Mr and mrs doe request the honor of your presence at the nuptial celebration in which their daughter sue and mr james taylor son of mr and mrs tom taylor

will be united in the sacrament of holy matrimony

This is the proper way to word a catholic wedding without a mass. It took us a lot of time to figure this out with a few priests helping us research it.

You could always say "we request" or " Zach and Karen together with their parents request the honor of your presence at their Sacrament of Holy Matrimony" then there is

Zach and Karen together with their parents request the honor of your presence at their marriage"

Melodie, It took weeks to research it without a mass and have the proper Catholic wording. The priests said normally people take the generic way out.

It also could say mr and mrs doe would feel blessed for you to attend the nuptial celebration. but then it leaves his parent out unless you put

    mr and mrs blaaa

    and mr and mrs daaaa

request your appearance at the nuptial celebration. BUT they said that was more the wording for a divorced set of parents who are now married to other people.

    So much stuffffffff
