Catholic Wedding Guest Question!

Christine, on September 24, 2016 at 7:48 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13

Heading to a wedding this afternoon and the ceremony is being held in catholic church. Do I NEED to cover my shoulders with a shawl or something or are bare shoulders fine.

In the past I've covered up but I forgot to think about this til now and I'm not sure I have anything appropriate to wear with the dress I'm wearing.

Depends what that particular church and group is like... you're probably fine but I always cover my shoulders to be safe. Have fun!

It's fine. My wedding gown is strapless and I'm having a Catholic wedding.

I've been a bridesmaid in a catholic wedding and we wore shoulder baring dresses. I've also worn tank dresses on Easter.

Well I'm in Spain (Madrid) and weddings are more formal here, this one definitely will be. I'm wearing a floor length gown (it's what you wear at evening weddings here, period).

I'd say bring a shawl just in case. In the US I think it doesn't matter as much but I covered my shoulders in Italy. Depends on local culture.

I would take a shawl just in case. Better to be prepared and if others aren't covering their shoulders don't wear it.

I went bare and it was no issue! There was a mix of shawls and no shawls. I'm glad I went without; it woulda been cumbersome to carry around and it was HOT in the chapel.
