Any other brides out there planning a Catholic ceremony? I am so frustrated and overwhelmed with the amount of paperwork and work involved! I was prepared for Pre-Cana, marriage counseling, and the questionnaire... I was not prepared to chase down documents, get permission from various churches and archdioceses, and coordinate with a million people to plan our ceremony! Non-Catholics can't believe it when I tell them everything FH and I are having to go through. Anyone else feel like this is a lot of work? Sorry, just had to get that off my chest!

We are having a catholic wedding. I thought the foccus quiz was actually a lot of fun lol and we got as close as it gets to a perfect match! we met with the director of faith formation for this and she was super cool. My uncle is a deacon there so he is the one who will be doing our ceremony. We met with him for paperwork but it wasn't long. We did have to sign something promising to raise our kids catholic and also swearing that I never vowed to be a celibate nun. I'm actually excited for our pre-cana. The director said she provides beer and wine and its more modern and not about older couples. She's so awesome that FH and I decided to take her RCIA classes so I could get confirmed and he could become catholic (his choice). I know we have to meet with a music coordinator but other than that I don't think there's anything else. We have had a great experience. I'm sorry you are having trouble Smiley sad I did have to call the church I was baptized/make my 1st communion in for the dates of those sacraments but it wasn't a big deal. She said she will fax my baptismal certificate over 6 months prior to the wedding

WRONG. The pill prevents ovulation. No egg at all, and therefore no conception at all. If the pill is incorrectly taken, then conception can occur, but there is absolutely no "hostile environment" caused by the pill. You are completely inaccurate. Furthermore, the pill is not entirely "awful for you in general" and has even been shown to reduce the risk of various reproductive cancers.

Sperm can also survive in a women's body for several days, so NFP is definitely not 98% effective. Birth control medications and condoms are extremely effective.
Clearly all that NFP education is really working out for people.... *eye roll*
