Gloria, on July 15, 2016 at 1:34 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 21

If you are getting married in a Catholic Church. What song did u guys use for your entrance song? Was it beautiful?or can you give me some ceremony song ideas at all? I would like to head some experiences with the music they chose.

Not married yet, but we're using Jesu, Joy of Man's desiring for the bridal party processional, and Pachelbel Canon in D for me. I cry just listening to them, now.

I can't use any music with words unless it's a psalm being sung.... I chose the bridal March on organs because if I couldn't choose an actual song (I originally wanted to walk down to God Bless the Broken road by Rascal Flatts) I figured I'd go with the cliche entrance song because it's a big ol cathedral and I'm sure everyone is expecting that song anyways lol

I have no idea which I'll be picking but I'm having a Mariachi do my entrance.

Eta: Sorry, I was no help.

We used "All I Ask of You" from Phantom for the recessional. Love our priest!

eta @Angela and I are going to dance to "Through the Years" for the bride/monster of the bride dance Smiley smile

Some parishes restrict, and actually list, the songs that can be played during a wedding. You'll find out when you meet with the priest.

I really like the song "Be Thou my Vision"! Even just the instrumental is nice. Also "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing".

I'm walking down to climb every mountain from the sound of music. Not sung. My church's music director is super strict but Fr. Gave me permission because it has special meaning.

Tina I wanted to do that so bad and they said it HAD to be a song sung in church whether it was instrumental or not. That's such a pretty song.

I am only allowed to have one processional (weird church music ministry rule) so I'm likely doing Jesu, Joy of Man's Desire for all of us!

Our church required live music so we had to hire singers and a pianist.

Our song was "When God Made You". When I first heard it. I started crying and saw myself at church walking to my husband.

I think you need to find a song that gives you that feeling.

We are using canon in d for the processional (popular choice I know) and for me it'll be ave Maria, which was my grandmothers favorite song.

We had a pianist play "Hallelujah" for our bridal party and "Canon in D major" for me.

Our church has a list you can choose from for each part of the mass. Anything beyond that is an extra fee for the musicians.

We are doing Ave Maria for the girls and canon in d for me. Then our recessional is trumpets voluntary.

I had no idea either for anything except the processional and then met with the musician we are using and she had a ton of suggestions and played a bunch which made it really easy.
