Catholic Approved Wedding in Europe

Morgan, on December 16, 2019 at 10:39 AM Posted in Planning 0 5
So me and my fiance want to get married in Germany but we're both very Catholic. We want to get married in a catholic church just not at our home parishes. Would there be any problem against this? I know problems arise when getting married outdoors but we want it in a church just not in our parish/country. Any advice would really help. We really don't want to have to have it here.

You would have to speak with the Priest at the church you are wanting to marry at and be informed on their diocesan regulations.

The German church may request to see your paper work in order for you both to get married there.

We have both our baptismal certificates and our proof that we have complete marriage classes

We are getting married in a church but couldn't choose my fiancé's family church because it is tiny (holds maybe 50 people). We picked a church close to our venue and since we aren't members, the priest from his family church had to write a letter to the priest of the new church explaining the situation. You may have to get your home church to do something like that.

FH and I had an issue finding a church because all the church’s that would allow non members to marry there required we bring his parish’s priest but his priest didn’t want to do a ceremony anywhere that wasn’t the parish, even tho we were only 30 minutes away. If that makes sense lol. We found a church who is allowing us to marry there with their priest which was so helpful. We just had FHs parish contact the church we’re marrying and they’re handling stuff. It was hard and stressful, but since it was all settled it’s been a breeze because his parish is just handling everything!
