Catering /venue

Charmika, on February 17, 2020 at 10:23 AM Posted in Planning 0 9
Ugh I’m finding the hardest time finding a venue. I kind of want to rent a venue and have food trucks come is that tacky or less expensive so should I just have a plated venue.
Also any suggestions for great venues I’m open I’m looking for things about 60 dollars a plate since I’m feeding almost 200 people
Thanks

Look for venues that allow outside catering. Italian, Mexican, and BBQ are usually the cheapest. Prices will vary depending on where you're located. For instance, that price is much easier to find in the south vs the NYC area. Another thing you may ultimately have to consider is cutting the guest list, as catering is the most expensive part of a wedding.

It’s difficult to give venue recommendations with no info on where you’re from. I don’t necessarily think food trucks are tacky, but guests will likely have a pretty long wait.

Food trucks are not tacky. I have been to food truck weddings and really enjoyed it.
    They are pricey, however.

I would search the vendor tabs here on WW to find venues and caterers in your area and reach out to them individually..

I don't think that food trucks are tacky, but I also don't think you'll save money. You may be better off with some of the cheaper options suggested by Hannah.

I don't think they are tackey, but I think it would take a while for guests to be served. I would look into other options. We did buffet style rather than plated and it was a lot cheaper. I would also consider doing just beer and wine rather than full open bar as alcohol is rather expensive.

We are doing food trucks for 88 guests. We are having a pizza truck and a burger truck it's coming to about $50 per person. This does not include beverages of venue rental.

It really depends on your area and what you’re looking for, like a few others said. We are paying $71 a head and are having a buffet menu at a ballroom, but that $71 includes the food, drinks and cake, so it was a decent price for us. My best friend on the other hand rented a hall for cheap, for a bbq caterer, used a local bakery and did cash bar and she didn’t spend much more than $5k on everything. She lives in a different state and had more options for that kind of thing than we do. Food trucks can get pricey though, so make sure you do your research and see what will really be worth it for you.

Food trucks aren’t tacky but I’d make sure they can handle crowds quickly. As a guest I wouldn’t want to stand in line for a long time while dressed up, waiting for food - especially if I would have to hit multiple trucks for my meal.

Food trucks are actually quite expensive, and the wait will be long. You’re probably better off finding a caterer yourself. Buffets are usually cheaper, and provide more options. You can search for caterers on here and see reviews. You can also see if your venue and/or vendors have a preferred vendor list. Most of ours do, or have given us recommendations for other vendors.
