Catering problems! Are there Caterer's that do $10 a head?

Mimi, on July 16, 2015 at 11:36 AM Posted in Planning 0 53

Having so many problems finding a vendor or caterer. Most places are charging $40 a person! I simply can't afford $3000 for a Ceremony and Reception site and $4000 for food. I was trying to keep my whole budget under $5000 that includes dress, decorations, food, photography everything. I am afraid I won't ever get married because of the cost. But I don't think I should have to go without a wedding and just go to the courthouse.

Subway, Chipolte, Jersey Mikes, Domino's, Dickey's BBQ....those will all get you close to $10/head

    Chipotle, Jimmy John's.

Honestly, I wanted Chipotle catering but couldn't find a venue that allowed us to bring our own. It was a sad day.

This might depend largely on where you are geographically. Where I'm getting married, I can barely get one passed app for $10 a head. Maybe consider a more laid back cake & champagne reception if you're in an expensive city.

Second Chipotle. Boston Market may be an option as well. I think both of them are around $11-15.

Check out some local Italian restaurants. They may have a basic pasta-meatballs-salad option in that price range.

I've ordered a great deal of catering in my past career, and the only thing you can get for under $10 a person is sandwiches with chips.

If you want more than that, you need to invite fewer people or wait longer until you save more money.

My caterer was $10/person. And that was for chicken breast or smoked pork loin. BUT I have found that my situation is very rare compared to other ww brides here. I think it's because I'm from a town of 1000 people.....

Can you go to a normal "nicer" restaurant for $10 a plate? no. Depending on where you are, I think $20-30 is normal depending on what options you are giving (beef, chicken, pork)

I got Famous Daves BBQ for about 13 pp and it's full service. Try every day restaurants.

@Lauren: I just noticed that too.

Really? You have more than enough time to save up.

Wait - people think $40 a head is high? Here most places start at around that...yikes. My poor little city is such a destination wedding spot that they killed my budget.

You could have a non-meal time wedding, and maybe just offer hors d'oeuvres and/or cake?

Otherwise, look into Bar B Q restaurants--- they tend to be on the lower end of catering costs (though $10 per person may still be a stretch).
