Casual Wedding

Lizbeth, on April 22, 2019 at 1:05 PM Posted in Community Conversations 1 6

Anyone doing a Casual wedding?

Low-key? Comfortable and unconventional? Low Budget? Dress pants with a button-down shirt or polo? A summer sundress or a skirt or pants with a nice blouse, maybe makeup and hair can be natural?

Simple?

Dress Down Ambiance?

I am planning a tiny, casual and no stress type reception(since ceremony will be in a courthouse). I want to invite important people in our lives that has impacted our lives and relationship somehow, So guest count is very small (around 25 guests). So we are planning a dinner and drinks type reception nothing else nothing more, maybe karaoke but nothing like a conventional wedding reception.

We are a simple and very particular couple and we just want to have fun in our day.

Anyone else have this vision?

We did have wedding dresses. However, otherwise it was similar to what you describe. Only a dozen people. And the reception was a luncheon in the private dining room of a restaurant. Even the cake was normal slices of cake, not a "wedding cake."

I'm a big believer that you choose the aspects of the ceremony and reception that are meaningful to you, and skip the rest. And that includes wedding dresses (or lack thereof). Way too many people go nuts on Platinum Weddings and Pinterest, and end up spending a lot of time and money on a wedding that doesn't satisfy them or their guests.

Yep, although, i cant deny i love big puffy and pricey wedding dresses but its not me and its not for me. Our entire wedding budget would be the cost of one those fancy dresses.. so i think im good lol

I’m doing a small ceremony In my parents backyard with just our closest family and friends, about 25 people. I have a dress but it’s off white and a little simple, befitting a small backyard wedding. I just feel like it makes sense to share something so intimate as getting married with only the people you are close to.

I'm fascinated with weddings generally, and I'm easily drawn to something pretty.

My fiance is a casual and simple styled guy, which I love, as I am the same. With that in mind, and with him having done the whole big fancy wedding in the past, we're looking to have something small, relaxed and casual. I told him early on that I don't plan on putting him in a suit, cos I know that just isn't him. I instead have the idea of one of those suit t-shirts:

I know I wouldn't feel truly comfortable in a big princess style wedding. Both me and my fiance are most comfortable with small groups of people. I'm hoping to keep the guest list small, within 20-25 people. I've also mentioned to him the idea of marrying in his mum's garden, and then going back to ours for a casual reception, maybe with a bbq, depending on the weather.

To me, the most important thing is marrying my fiance, first and foremost. Everything else is optional extras. We have a lot of time to plan yet, so it will interesting to see what the finished product will look like. Smiley smile
