With our wedding package we can have unlimited beer and wine at our reception and everything else our guest will have to pay. I feel like we are paying for everything else why can't the guest foot the bill for their alcoholic beverages?

What are you offering Cash or Open Bar?

Great idea Clare. We all have different tastes here and have different circles. I know for me, I find myself getting defensive because I do worry about doing my wedding on such a small budget. But what we do for our weddings in every aspect shows who we are and how we live. My FH and I live a simple Nebraskan 40 + hour work week, cattle raising, crop farming life. We do not live extravagently and we never will. To the Brides who can afford an open bar and a designer dress, sincerely, good for you. You work hard for it, enjoy what you work for. For ppl like me who get exactly what they want by spending very little and having a cash bar, good for us. We are not all the same and if we lower our defenses, we can all get along!! You are all doing a great job on your planning and I bet they will ALL be the day you dreamed of no matter how big or small the budget may be or how selective the bar is!!!!

Our open bar will cost $6500 for 175 guests. It's not about the cost but we are concerned about everyone driving home so we are closing the open bar an hour and a half before the end of the reception. I could never make my grandma buy her cape coder with a beer and wine only open bar.

If you're providing beer and wine unlimited in my opinion that's an open bar! I intend to have an open bar but that's because that's really important to FH and I.

We will be just doing wine and beer with soda juice and water. We don't drink to much as well as my family so I don't want to pay $3 extra per person to have mix drinks included. Especially when his family is the one who drinks alot with mix drinks so if they want mix drinks they will have to pay. Detering drunkenness.
