Card box!?

SarahKay, on June 19, 2017 at 9:49 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 47

So I didn't put much thought into needing a card box until my step mom brought it up recently. So I need some inspiration! Show me your DIY or bought card boxes Smiley smile

Also, does it have to be locked? I've seen both, not sure which way I should go. Thanks ladies!

I would make sure it is not easy to lift the lid and remove a card. As well ensure that someone has eyes on the box until it's locked away. And make sure two people remove any cards and/or lock it away. You don't have to worry about your guests but there can be some random person that shows up. People are stealing card boxes like crazy in my city.

I am having a bird cage. Like this, but a standing one. They come with lock and a standing one is much harder to steal lol

I didn't even think about it until recently. I personally will be getting a lock on mine, but my venue is accessible to the public until 6 pm and my wedding starts at 4 pm. I have a few choices I am looking at on Etsy.

We bought ours from things remembered. it has a lock on it and they can engrave the wooden heart on the top with whatever you want. we had planned on using a birdcage but everything on the website for TR was bogo 50% and we bought our cake topper there so we figured why not.

This is what I'm going for, the actual box is a greenhouse from IKEA and I just fell in love with this idea, it opens from the top/roof. And you can customize it a ton of ways! Super inexpensive too!

These are all great ideas, thank you! It's sad that a lock is necessary but I guess it's better to be safe!

I got one very similar to Nas. My venue is not public and my guests will not steal the cards

Mine doesn't have a lock but the cards fall all the way to the bottom so you would have to grab the entire thing.

I was actually just looking into this as well. I really like the acrylic one's that are personalized. I like the thought of getting to reuse it for something else. I can't seem to find one at a good price though, 50 seems a little high. I'm looking to find a blank box and do my own vinyl with my cricut!

Hey ladies. Even if your card box has a lock I would recommend assigning someone to Stand by it. It's vey common for people to take cards or even the whole box. The whole wedding party will be doing pics most likely the coordinator will be will you as well. It's crazy the world we live in. Also find out if your venue locks them up. I have a friend who had most of her cards taken by someone working the staff.

We are renting one from our venue for $45. It's just a tall pillar with a slit. It's all locked up and FH and I are given the key when we arrive

I ordered a personalized acrylic one from Etsy. I received it about three days ago. I love it!! The picture is not mine, but the style is exactly the same.

Here's mine. I repainted it to give it a distressed wood look and made the sash.

Mine didn't have a lock, but I had a small wedding and the venue placed it near the head table, furthest distance from the main doors. We had no stolen cards.

I got one from Etsy. It didn't have a lock on it. It was just a covered cardboard box with some silver spray glitter, and a navy ribbon.
