Card Box Help!

valerie, on March 3, 2015 at 10:09 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 12

We are having approximately 250 guests at our wedding. How big of a card box do you think we will need?

Plan on receiving one card per household - you may not actually get that many but always plan for the most you could possibly get.

I really wouldn't put much thought into it. Just about any card box out there will do just fine. I've never seen a card box that was too small, and if it ends up being bigger than you needed, don't worry about it. Not a big deal

Yeah, take any box you can find that has a lid, wrap it in wedding paper after cutting a card slot in it and call it done. It will be wrapped closed so no one can "help themselves" to your gifts and wont spill when you throw it in the trunk for the ride home. Copy paper boxes from work, work really well.

Can you show us a picture of the box you have? Maybe look on Pinterest for some ideas

Looks pretty decent sized to me. Do people in your area bring gifts to weddings or is it typically all cards

I guess pictures can be deceiving, but based on that photo the box looks big enough. Even if you received a card from each of the 250 people (which you won't) I still think it would all fit.

I bought a box like that and started decorating it but then I FH told me his friends sister had a box like that at her wedding and someone just opened it and took a shit ton of cards. Soooo I scrapped that whole idea half way through. I would like to think none of my guests would do that, but then again I'm sure they didn't either. Just wanted to give you a heads up!

Thanks. I thought of that too Megan and I plan on Hot gluing the opening with costume glue. another person told me it's too small and easy to steal so I was thinking of putting a 50lb weight in the bottom of the box. shame we have to think this way.

I'm thinking of putting all the invites in there before i mail it out to see how many it fits since most people will give a card and not gifts

My step mom had one at her wedding that her MOH made for her ...she used a hat box and wrapped it with batting and material to look like a wedding cake. She had around 100 cards and still uses it to this day to put birthday cards, anniversary cards or anything special from my dad. She is going to make me one so I can do the same thing. Maybe have a trusted person check the box from time to time to make sure they are all laying down flat in the box and to keep an eye on it.
