Candy buffet or trail mix buffet?

jane, on February 9, 2015 at 9:23 AM Posted in Planning 0 10

We are having a luncheon and I was going to have a candy buffet but my FH thought a trail mix buffet might be more appealing to our family. We don't have any nut allergies in our families.

Thoughts or any other suggestions? Thanks!

I say trail mix. Personally, I'm not a huge candy fan and I've seen the candy bars at a lot of different weddings. The trail mix is different and I've never been to a wedding that had one.

I love trail mix! Way more then candy (just don't forget the m&ms cause it's the only time I like them) lol.

If price is not a factor, trail mix is neat: I think a trail mix buffet is going to be really expensive. My candy buffet came to like $700 with my jars and 50LBs of candy(100 guests) If you're primarily doing nuts...which is what I think of when I think trail mix...it is going to add up so quickly because nuts are way more expensive than candy. Or if you have less guests you won't need as much, but it will look more empty because nuts are smaller than more candy items.

I'm attaching a picture of my candy buffet, I love it and it was beautiful, but I feel like unless you have a ton of Ingredients to make the trail mix it won't look as full.

I think it will be more expensive because of the cost of the ingredients...how about a popcorn bar with some sweet mix-ins/sweet sprinkle-ons?

I am doing a trail mix buffet so I am biased! We don't like candy much but we love trail mix.. Easy decision for us! Smiley smile

ETA - We are doing 9 different kinds of nuts & 11 different snacks and the cost will be about $750, not including anything else. It was going to be closer to $1k but we decided to only fill up the vases 3/4 of the way to save $$$.

I only eat the M&Ms out of the trail mix... so I vote candy lol.

I have jars from my sister's wedding but after pricing out the nuts, it's going to be really expensive. Celia and anyone, can you share what I would have with a popcorn buffet? What type if bags/containers for the guests?

    Thank you!
