Candle Centerpieces - Need Opinions Please!

Hi all,

Our centerpieces are going to be sets of 3 pillar candles with glass candle holders. I ordered the candles/holders online but found that when I put the pillar candle in, it leans to one side. They don't stand up straight and they lean against the wall of the holder. Has anyone had this problem before? I don't want them to all look uneven. I'm also concerned that when lit, the wax will melt all over the side. The candle company suggested using sand or filler, but I really don't want to have to buy all that for all these candles!

Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

It just sounds like the candles aren't perfectly level. It's fine. No big deal. You have a couple of options. 1. shave the bottom of the candle until it's perfectly level; 2. add a bit of sand to the bottom of each holder, to make the candle level, or at least keep from leaning. I think shaving the bottoms of the candles is easier, but you can choose which you'd like to do. Candles often have these kinds of imperfections, so you have to improvise.

I was just about to suggest the same. It shouldn't take much to even out the bottom of the candles.

It's really the glass holders that have an uneven bottom so I'm not sure what to do

I got my cylinders and candles from IKEA and put sand to help with getting the wax out afterward and it definitely helped.

Can you return the candle holders and get glass hurricanes instead? That’s what we used for my daughter’s wedding and we had no issues. The wax did get on the inside of the glass but I was able to easily clean them afterwards. I purchased hers from Vase Market.
