Hi! Has any of you ever had to cancel a wedding venue/reception? I have a contract with a venue. Our wedding date is 16 months away. Communication with the person handling the venue has been horrible. He will not return my emails or my texts. He also never gave me a complete copy of the contract. (I only have the contract with my signature) he also has not sent me this months invoice (which was due on June 1st) and it's been almost 2 weeks since I've emailed him about my invoice.

    I'm so sorry, Karissa! How frustrating! What does your contract say about cancellation? You may not get your deposit back but I imagine there is a clause that explains the process for canceling. Do you have a new venue in mind yet? If you try to set an appointment and talk face to face with this venue about your concerns is there a chance you won't have to cancel?

    Welll, the contract says nothing about cancelling. All it says is "all payments are non-refundable" which is fine. And with all the stress for everything this far in advance, I think we're just going to elope in the mountains and have an intimate wedding and an awesome long honeymoon

    Have you paid a deposit? Because it sounds like you can fight to get your money back as you don't have a completed contract.

    My deposit was my first month payment. So it really wasn't a typical "deposit"

    If you've paid money for an incomplete contract and it's been over three weeks, I try small claims court.
