Canceling My Wedding Photographer

Evelyn, on October 30, 2018 at 7:38 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

What's a good and professional way to cancel your wedding photographer?
I haven't been happy and we didn't like our engagement pictures how it came out.
I feel bad to cancel but i just don't want to regret it for the rest of my life. ( she's not a professional photographer )

Long story short: We haven't been happy and she edited our pictures last minute. On her Instagram she posted sneak peaks on other couples engagement and ect on most recent pictures but not ours and i noticed on her story she edited the pictures on the very same day. Honestly it makes me feel really sad because i hired her for my WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER and i expect the same. If anyone can help me. Thank you

P.S : I think i found the right weeding photographer that does video too Smiley smile It will cost a little more but investing for my pictures i know it will be worth it.

Just tell her you decided to go in a different direction and thank her for the engagement pictures. Would you lose a deposit?

You just have to be straight forward and honest! Also if you have a contract that spells anything out you have to abide by that. But I would go with something straight an to the point. “Unfortunately we will no longer be needing your services for our wedding day.” If a follow up comes just express that your visions didn’t match. You didn’t get what you pictured.

I had a situation similar to yours, and in the end I switched photographers and am very happy with my decision. Remember this is your wedding day, when it's over you'll only have photos and videos to reflect on so definitely pick someone you're comfortable with and trust to capture it all.
When canceling the contract my FH and I were very honest and direct with the issue we had and we still "thank" them to be polite. Something very simple, along the line of thank you for your time unfortunately due to " " we decided to select another photographer for our wedding. Etc...

I would just let her know thank you, but her services will no longer be needed. I don't think you really need to go into detail. Plus, you already said you're okay with losing the deposit so there are really no ties there. I hope your new photographer/videographer is everything you hope!

Exactly! Even though it is awkward to do, you will be so much happier to have someone you trust vs worrying about how they will turn out.

My thoughts exactly. Honesty really is best here. You get what you want (minus any deposit, obviously) and if you think about it, it's probably better for them as well. Better to be cut before the event than have an unhappy couple writing a review on Yelp Smiley winking

But in all seriousness, just be direct and honest. It's probably not the first or last time a vendor of any kind has heard something similar.
