Gee I never even thought to try and negotiate. I feel like if your order is large enough and there isn't a discount already for a large order, that it wouldn't hurt to try. I don't know that I would try and talk anyone down on an individual item.

The few times asking for a discount has worked for me, I have been placing a bulk order. Some shops put coupon codes on social media, so check for that. I really hate the idea of negotiating in this case, because an artist is posting that item and the value they have determined for their art. By negotiating, I feel like I am telling them their work is less valuable.

It's for flowers. I don't need much- a tossing bouquet, bout, and my bouquet.

I asked for a discount for the ties I just ordered. I got a few bucks knocked off. Can't hurt to ask

You could ask for a package discount for those three items

Not sure about negotiating, but I got a lot of discounts when doing a large order. Ex: 4 bm tote bags, 8 tie tacks, all of my bouquets and boutiners. I asked "if I order more then... (any given number), do you offer a discount? Most said yes

I have an etsy shop and have been asked if my prices are "firm." I personally am less willing to work with a customer who tries to talk price down versus a customer who inquires about discounts available. I would word it like this "hello, I am looking to purchase (xyz) and was wondering if your shop has any discounts or special sales going on at this time?" Usually shop owners have a few coupon codes available. They might or might not be visible in their shop. Please don't approach it as negotiating the price of an item. People put a lot of hard work into making these products perfect for you, and etsy is a competitive market, so their prices are usually thought out to the penny. They will most likely help you out with a discount or free shipping, but just make sure to be respectful of their craft, which I'm sure you will! Smiley smile

You could always check to see if there's a discount for ordering all those items from the same seller.

We kind of negotiated the price of an invitation suite we might go with, but I say kind of because a lower price means negotiating on the product itself as well (i.e. buying the kit to assemble the suite vs. ordering them already made). I agree it can't hurt to ask though.

I have negotiated shipping fees recently. My fsil delivered a stillborn and I purchased a necklace with her daughters bday on it with Mum on the other side. I wanted it be here for fsil birthday. The seller absorbed the rush shipping fee for me.

If someone tried to haggle through my Etsy, I would probably cancel their order. I price my stuff for my materials and my time, and it's not even what I make at my job, because I enjoy doing it. But tell me I'm not selling at a low enough price point because you can get it for less elsewhere? Nope, I don't need customers like that.

I've had luck with an Etsy seller combining shipping when I ordered multiple items.

You can always start a discussion with a seller about your order. It may not work out but it doesn't hurt to ask.

It honestly never occurred to me to haggle on Etsy. I also never felt like I was getting ripped off either (in fact, when I changed my mind about the color after the seller had already gotten to work, she threw in the new color for free). The Etsy sellers are not exactly well-to-do business people. It would leave a bad taste in my mouth. But, the worst that will happen is that they say no, so I guess you have nothing to lose.

I've had luck before. Usually when buying in bulk. I just asked the seller if they offered a discount for buying X amount of items. Usually they have been more than willing to give a small discount.

I've never tried to haggle on etsy, the only thing I have done is asked if things could be ordered in different quantities than the listing shows. For example, there were these great table numbers available in a set of 20 but I only have 8 tables. It was a good price for 20 numbers but to only use 8 out of the 20, it was too much. I asked the seller if it would be possible to order in lesser quantities- 8 (or even 10 would have been fine).

She unfortunately was unable to do that because of how she orders one of the parts.

I asked once if I bought something in bulk if there would be a discount, or maybe free/discounted shipping.

The seller was more than willing to work with me on it. I ended up not being able to afford the bulk order, but did buy one of the items at the regular price and paid shipping...it was for my sweetheart table centerpiece. (I had wanted to do it for all of the tables, but didn't have $200 to spend on centerpieces.)

It doesn't hurt to ask, if its about combining orders or shipping, or if they have any promos/coupons. Just be wary of sounding like their product isn't worth what they're asking. Smiley smile

I wouldnt ask for a single item, but I got discounts on my bridal jewelry (2 items), table runners (15 items), BM jewelry (5 items), and possibly tumblers, but I'm not sure on those. 3/4 sellers went with it. Not bad.

My FH husband and I actually have 3 Etsy shops. We write at the bottom of our listings 'Discounts available for bridesmaid/groomsmen orders, just send us a message!'. I say it never hurts to ask and I would never be offended. In fact, I gave someone free shipping just last night because they were super nice and I felt like it lol. If someone wants to purchase more than one item, I'm more than happy to give them a discount.

@Chelsea said it best--just message them and ask them if there are any promos going on!
