Can you be best friends with fh male best friend?

FH best man lives in LA where my family lives I was down for the weekend to visit my stepdad and practice the father daughter dance and we asked the best man to bring me up to bay area since he was going up for the bachelor party. FH got very excited we were going up together and hoped we could become best friends by the end of the 6 hour trip which made me think my ex would not approve of this at all! He would not let me go anywhere his friends with the fear of “something happening” between us. FH then said he was pretty close to his best man now fiancée when they first started going out they will go to lunch without the best man as just friends and wanted me to have a similar relationship with his best friend. I think it’s super sweet my FH is pushing me to make his best friend my best friend and has no fear of “something happening between us” I guess that’s why I’m going to marry him next week!

Whats your opinion and what’s you SO opinion on being close to their best friend? Or the other way what’s your opinion of your SO becoming best friends with your best friend? Approve? Disapprove? I would love to know!

My FW can be friends with whoever she wants. I would never push her to be "best friends" with my best friend because, well, she has her own friends, but to each their own. I would prefer for relationships and friendships to happen naturally.

I think it's a great idea- I'm pretty close friends with my FHs best man. He's a great friend and we're even close with his family too.

My best friend and FH get along, but they really don’t have much in common and my best friend is a major introvert. I wouldn’t mind if they did become best friends though, I trust them both. I asked my FH what he would think about me becoming best friends with his best friend and he said he wouldn’t care. The last couple times we’ve gone out with FH’s friends I’ve actually been the one to reach out to his friends and coordinate- I’m definitely more of the planner lol.

That’s awesome that you guys have that relationship. When I said push I didn’t mean force. As adults I don’t think you can force anyone to do anything and obviously a friendship is a 2 way relationship never a 1 so when I said push I really just meant that he encourages his best friend and mine friendship to be stronger.

My husband and I went on vacation with his best man when husband and I had only been dating for 4 months lol. He said we’re the two most important people in his life and he wanted us to get along with each other too (which we do, he’s wonderful!)

One of the best things about my FH is the people he has in his life. Over the years his best friend and I have become best friends. We go out together without my FH if he’s busy. I’m friends with all of his friends and I love it! I wish my FH was closer with my friends.

I've known my FH since freshman year of high school. I was already good friends with most FH friends before we got together. Nothing changed after we did. He trusts me and he trusts his friends.

One doesn't get to choose who their significant other is friends with. My best friend and I had a sex before me and my husband were a thing. He knows this and I'm still friends with the guy. It's not that serious. My husband knows this and doesn't care.

I love that! My FH is the most low key guy in the world. My late best friend was a guy and he & my FH became really close. Peter didn't even snicker when my grandmother's mentioned how they had always envisioned me marrying my late best friend. I think it is so fantastic!

I AM best friends with fh best man! We've (most of the wedding party) all been very close friends since we were teenagers. I actually have a matching tattoo (1993 in roman numerals) with the best man. There is a group of about 7 of us (and the various significant others that they've had over the years) that do everything together and are all BEST friends.
