Can I reuse a First Dance Song from a previous wedding

Mrs Drakthal, on August 20, 2013 at 8:48 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 16

We are still looking for our "first dance song" originally I wanted to do a choreographed dance but FH was really unhappy with it so I decided to back down.

We both love the song "Could I have This Dance" by Anne Murray.

Problem is that I used this song when I married someone else years ago. (That marriage went down in flames rather quickly).

Opinoins. (There are maybe a half dozen people or so that were at that wedding that will be at this wedding.)

I would say no. ESP since there will be guests from that wedding. A lot of people remember music, and that's just awkward.

Keep searching through music, something will speak to you. Get some recommendations from your DJ.

We are not having a DJ or band!

There are millions of songs... I would never dance to a song that was significant to an ex at my wedding, if ever, especially not a first dance song.

Does your fh know this was your first dance song with your ex husband?

Yes he does. Problem is we both keep going back to it. We both love the song.

I'd steer clear of that. Like Sarah said, there are a million other songs you guys can dance to. If you're not having a DJ or a band, what are you doing for music?

Venue has a killer sound system that plays throughout the house and grounds that works from an mp3 player or cd's..............

Have you looked at the song tab on WW? I wouldn't do it either. My brother used the same song at his second wedding. Lots of guests noticed/commented on it. It was awkward.

No. There are a million songs in the naked city, but don't use one you used before.

I'm gonna say a big NO...Its best to find a song that represents the two of you not someone from your past. I'm sure you both will find something else that you both LOVE!!! What is FH thoughts?

Aw man... I'm partial to this song. We used it for our last dance Smiley smile But I'm gonna have to vote no also. Even though you and FH both like that song, it's got your past attached to it.

You're creating brand new memories hon, choose a song that doesn't have baggage Smiley winking
