Can I pick my own wedding band?

I went shopping today and stopped by at one of the jewelry stores in the mall just to look at wedding bands for my FH. I know he purchased my band the day he bought my engagement ring but when I came home and I asked him if I could see the band and when I put it next to my engagement ring it seems like you can't see it. What's the standard for wedding band size? I also asked him if he would feel offended if I wanted a different one and he said he was okay with that

We shopped for ours together. He originally wanted me to pick one out to surprise him but when we went looking together, we both found ones we loved and purchased them together that day.

I did! I don't think it should be a surprise. DH picked his band also. He asked my input, but ultimately he chose what he liked. You're the one that has to wear it the rest of your life!

I don't think there is a standard size. Some people want the wedding band bigger or smaller or even the same width as the e-ring. FH and I are picking out our own bands together.

I chose mine, too! I showed FH one that I liked for him, but it was up to him which one he chose in the end. I didn't realize some people felt strongly about picking rings for each other until FMIL almost had a heart attack when we told her how we did it.

Also, I don't feel like there is a "standard" size. I think its best to just go in and see what looks best with your e-ring. I prefer bands that compliment the e-ring - similar width band and if you want something with stones in it, choose carat weight, size and setting that compliments your e-ring. For example, I chose a wedding band that is .5 carat because the 1 carat seemed to compete with my e-ring, and I chose round, channel set stones for my wedding band to coordinate with the band on my e-ring.

We plan on going together, and making a Saturday afternoon of it. He has an idea of what he wants, I have an idea of what I want, and I am sure we will find a compromise somewhere!
