Cameras for guests?

@MrsA-to-be, on October 25, 2016 at 4:28 PM Posted in Planning 0 23

Hello everyone! This is my first time posting as I'm still new to WW. However, my question is: would providing guests with disposable cameras for my reception be a good idea? Instead of getting a photographer.. Im still considering as I'm trying to stay at as low a budget as possible.

Most of those pics will not be great quality and might not get the pics your really want. Plus the costs of getting them developed. I wouldn't go that route unless pictures aren't very important.

Disposable cameras in addition to a photographer were a cute idea before everyone had cellphones, but it's pointless now. It's never a good idea to have them without a professional photographer. You've got a while until your wedding. I would advise you to save up some extra money. Photos are one of the only things you'll have after the wedding.

This would be great for getting fun candid pictures of your guests partying during the reception, but there's no guarantee that you'd have any pictures of the important moments throughout the ceremony and reception. I definitely recommend continuing your search for a professional photographer!!

In this day, everyone has a smart phone with great quality cameras. Disposable cameras aren't even relevant anymore.

Do the modern thing; let people snap pictures with their cameras and post with your wedding hashtag.

You run the risk of a lot of butt shots and a few wiener shots.

ETA: Ew. Just re-read your post. Please hire a photographer.

Definitely get a photographer. Cut your budget somewhere else if you need to, but your grandkids on your 50th anniversary will thank you. Good photos last a lifetime! You don't really want a wall full of crappy snapshots from people who can't hold a camera without their finger in the way, do you?

We are thinking about getting disposable cameras for the kids to use but I wouldn't do them instead of a photographer.

If you want cool physical photos, look into getting an Instax Mini. They run about $80, film is about $1 a shot and they have cute borders and produce tiny Polaroids.

But consider have a profession photographer there, even if it's just for a few hours so you can be positive that you'll have good photos.

I would advise against disposable cameras as they will cost you an arm and a leg to develop and the shots will most likely be shit.

Very bad idea. You won't get the pictures you want and the quality will be poor.

One of my aunts bought disposables for her wedding back in the early 2000's. She put a couple at each table for guests to take pictures during the reception.

All the pictures are pretty bad (over exposed due to flash, too dark from no flash, etc.) but she keeps them all in an album.

However she also had pro pics and she has a much bigger album for those.

This could end up being a total waste of money on your part. Who says the guests will actually take the pics you want..and they will not be good quality.

You could spend the money to get the cameras developed and discover that everyone took selfies and you have no pics of you and FH.

Thank you all for your advice and opinions, although @KatieK you don't have to be rude about it. Like I said, I'm still new and still deciding on everything.

If you think that was rude, you're in for one rough ride if you choose to stay with WW.

I think disposable cameras are outdated and have poor quality compared to camera phones and digital cameras.

Skip them !! Who knows what pictures guest will try to be funny and take that are just of the floor or a leg !! And you won't even know until you've already paid to have them developed !

Definitely do not skip a photographer. You cannot redo this day. If nothing else you will want a photographer and possibly a videographer. You'll always want the pictures.
