California Venues That Accept Dogs

Angela, on August 13, 2019 at 8:10 AM Posted in California Planning 0 6

Hey guys!

My fiance & I are looking to get married in California between September & October but we've been having difficulty finding an all-inclusive venue that accepts dogs. We would really like our best friend to be part of the wedding but also be there for the reception. A lot of places say they'll let the dog be there for the ceremony but has to leave the premises for the reception. This is sort of a destination wedding for us as we live in Northern VA so doing that would prove difficult for us. We are trying to find a place that also has on-site accommodations so if that was the case then it wouldn't be too difficult to do.

Wanted to know if anyone has had experience with this or can give me advice on what we should do? Or if anyone has suggestions on a venue that would be great Smiley shame .

I think an all-inclusive venue is going to be hard because if they are licensed to provide food, they have to comply with food health & safety code requirements. Except for specific service animals, they probably cannot legally have an animal on the premises. You might have better luck if you look for a public park-type facility (that allows animals, not all do) and then contract with a separate caterer for your food. I don't know for sure, but I think that's more likely to work out because the venue won't actually hold the food license, the caterer will. Years ago, daughter had a new (and EXTREMELY needy) puppy she couldn't leave home alone all day at the time of my mom's funeral. After the service, we had a big luncheon at a venue and they were very firm that their health and safety license prohibited the dog (even in a carrier) from being in the building. Daughter had to sit outside the venue near the parking lot with the dog for the entire event....

    Hey Angela!

As the pp mentioned, you might find this difficult as venues will have certain health and safety standards to adhere to. Would it be possible to find someone who would be able to look after your dog, off the premises, for your reception? I know that you want your god to be there but having him away from your reception will mean that you do not have to worry about any guests being allergic and your dog won’t be distressed about so many people around.

What type of dog do you have?

I agree with everyone else’s comments about health and safety guidelines. For my venue at least, they allow dogs to be outside the reception room (there’s lots of big window/doors to a patio area) as long as they’re on a leash and/or in a containment area. I assume this means a crate or those tall metal fences for dogs play-pens.

Check with the Kimpton Shorebreak Hotel in Huntington Beach! It’s a smaller boutique hotel right off of PCH, and they’re SUPER dog-friendly.

    Shorebreak

    And also Pasea

I don’t know about all inclusive but there are A TON of wineries that love dogs! Lots of them are venues as well with some decent options or preferred vendors info pages. There are some on property so lots of space, some of them have hotels or guest houses to stay in! Maybe try Campovida if you are looking at Northern California? I live in northern ca and was looking here so lots of options and some places are really willing to work with you! Good luck!
