cali Brides- How much are you spending on Photography?

I know that photography costs vary greatly based on where you live which is why I’m limiting this to California brides/couples.

How much did you guys spend on photography?What percent of your overall budget is that?
There are 2 photographers I love. For $5,500 I am getting an engagement session, and 8 hours wedding coverage with second shooter.
This is about 10% of my overall budget.
Is this too much money?
I definitely don’t want to go cheap on photography but I also don’t want to over do it.
I also like a specific style of wedding photography called fine are wedding photography.

Hi Alaunna! WeddingWire has a great tool called the Cost Guide that can help you figure out average local wedding spend:
Wedding Photographer Cost Guide (Los Angeles, CA)
That is on the higher end of the spend range, but as 10% of your budget I think it's definitely reasonable! I kept looking for photographers in the 4k range and the ones I liked were all closer to 5-6k!
You can also take a look at WeddingWire's Newlywed Report for other spending stats!

That sounds about right! That is pretty much the average I found when looking. Our photographer was 3400 for engagement session and second shooter when we booked her, and now she is around 4500. I think if you are looking for fine art/film photog, then 5500 is on the cheap end and a great price!

Have you thought to bundle your vendors? We are getting a photographer, videographer and DJ. It helps with costs and within budget too. Just a thought
