What is your opinion on having a wedding cake vs cupcakes? Also, are ya'll doing a groom's cake in addition to the wedding cake/cupcakes?

We chose mini cupcakes. I've never really imagined having a tiered cake and tend to enjoy cupcakes more anyway. We opted for minis to increase the variety of flavors.

Cupcakes here, with a tier of regular cake for cutting. I can honestly say I have never had good wedding cake, I hate fondant, so other then looks I don't see the point of a cake. We are serving desert after dinner so most won't even want cake. I'm doing about 30 below the tier then 100 on another table with cute to-go packaging,so then can eat it then or take it home.

We're all different and have different priorities when it comes to stuff, so just choose what is best for you. :-)

I have barely started the planning process but I know we are doing a cake and not cupcakes. I thought cupcakes were a cute idea and brought it up to my fiance and he squashed that one quick! So we will have a small cake to cut into for ourselves and we are going to have sheet cakes in the back for our guests. My fiance's family member makes wedding cakes and they are absolutely delicious! No fondant either. I know that much Smiley smile

I just like cake better than cupcakes. And NotFroofy bakes great cakes!

We didn't have a groom, much less a groom's cake! But I've never really understood the whole groom's cake thing anyway. People don't have a "bride's cake." It often seems like the "groom's cake" is a sop to the groom for having the whole rest of the wedding just reflecting the bride, not the groom.

Although my mom wasn't thrilled about the idea, we're doing cupcakes. We'll have a smaller cake for us to cut and cupcakes decorated nicely for our fall theme for the guests. They'll be arranged very nicely. You can have a lot of variety of flavors this way also.

We are doing a smaller cutting cake and then a dessert table with Rice Crispy Bars, Brownies, Donuts, Cream Puffs, Cake Pops and Cookies. I just didn't want to mess with cutting and serving the cake. :-)

Originally we were going to go with cupcakes. But later in the planning and after seeing all of the traditional cakes we ended up going with a traditional 4 tier cake. We aren’t doing a grooms cake.

My friend (who is a great baker) offered to do cupcakes so I am doing that, also, some of my friends and I were known as the "Cupcake Girls" in college for making cupcakes all the time and that is where FH and I met so I think it is a nice touch. My friend will likely also make a top tier for us to cut. I love the idea of people getting a cupcake when they want instead of having to wait for cake to be cut and served...

Smaller cake AND cupcakes. I wouldn't skip out on the cake completely.

We are doing cupcakes for the guests and a cake for us. We chose four fall themed flavors - caramel apple, maple walnut, chocolate caramel, and orange pumpkin spice. We are doing a mix of sizes - regular and mini. Our cake will be the topper and that's in caramel apple. FH's family is making us a cupcake tower that will look like this...

I'm not really into the non traditional cupcakes. I just want a nice three tier cake, probably with three different flavors. No groom's cake.

Cupcakes! With a small cake on top for cutting. I've also seen people have a 2 tier cake on top.

I think its different and cute! Cupcakes are plenty "wedding-y"

we are having an 8 inch cake on top for cutting and then 4 tiers of cupcakes (different flavors). Plus i can decorate the stand instead of having to pay for some fancy cake decorations.
