Cake or Cupcakes

We are having a cake with 5 tiers (all different flavors), a gelato station, cotton candy, zeppole station, chocolate fountain with fruit, waffle sundae bar, banana forester station and mini pastries.

I was thinking for doing a small cake for cutting and pictures. This cake could be for us and maybe the wedding party. Then cupcakes for the rest of the guest. All different flavors. I am not sure how the other guest will feel about not getting cake. So maybe I get a small cake and have it only have myself and FH.

Wow that's amazing! I was thinking about doing late night snacks. Having a pastries and smores!

Oh yes! Little bundt cakes are SO GOOD!

I want a traditional cake! But I don't want to pay the ridiculous cake cutting fee or designate a family member to cut it.

I'm one of those brides that did NOT want the traditional cake. We decided to do cupcakes and I'm so excited because we have two different tastings within the next two weeks.

I really do want a traditional wedding cake, but after reading blogs a lot of it goes to waste. I just think cupcake will be a better fit especially because we can pick so many different flavors. Good luck on your tastings! Tastings are the best part!

You can do both you know! We are doing a small cake for the top tier - really just something that we can cut for picture purposes and then the rest will be cupcakes.

I think that's a nice idea! They say its a tradition to save your wedding cake for your 1st year anniversary (kind of weird, I know) but maybe you could cut the cake, and then save it?

We're doing the small cake for us, cupcakes in our flavor and 2 other flavors & cookies! We're both actually more cookie people than cake people but did want the tradition. I'm excited because I totally plan on actually sitting down and eating a whole piece of cake! haha

We're doing both - a small cut cake and four flavors of cupcakes! I like that we get to have a variety of flavors so there's something that everyone will like and it's not just vanilla. We're also planning on having little boxes so people can take extra home so hopefully there will not be leftovers and a question of what to do with them. If there are, then they're going to some friend's offices on the Monday after. Much easier to hand out leftover cupcakes than a half eaten cake. I don't think there will be an issue with dry. That's on the baker. Our baker's flavors were all on point and they were so delicious but not too heavy. Seriously, still dreaming about the maple bourbon bacon...

I am thinking about having a late night dessert table as well.

Sarah- after reading all the post I think I will do a small cake for the pictures and cupcakes for the guest. We can pick up to 6 flavors so I am excited about that! Omg I had a maple rum cupcake that I am still thinking about lol. Thanks for your input

I am glad so many people are saying cupcakes. I spoke to my dad last night and he thought it was a weird idea.
