What have been your favorites as a guest in the past? What did you like best at your tastings that you decided on? Also any you didn't like or that your important people don't care for that affect your choices? Are you serving one flavor for everyone or multiple?

Based on our tasting we did white cake with two layers chocolate Bavarian cream and one layer baked apples. That combination was so tasty!

As a guest I’d prefer a white/vanilla or almond cake (or lemon for a spring/summer wedding) with a layer or so of chocolate, chocolate espresso or something else chocolate-y.

Forgot to share, our venue’s meal included three dessert shots per person so we only did a one tier cake that would feed 1/3-1/2 guests because we felt there were enough options. No problems.

We’re doing cupcakes for our wedding and the flavors are huckleberry cheesecake, lavender vanilla, and dark chocolate with blueberry filling! The area we’re getting married in is famous for fresh huckleberries, so it was a must to have that flavor! My best friends wedding had strawberry margarita flavored cupcakes (literally made with strawberry margarita mix) and I haven’t stopped thinking about them since her wedding. 😂 They were delicious!

Depends on the guests. I would go simple and pick classic flavors and do different ones for each tier to allow variety. I would stay away from fruit fillings as no telling who has an allergy unless you ask beforehand.

As long as there's no cross contamination and each tier is labelled, adults know how to avoid triggers.

As a guest, the best ones came from local independent grocery stores. Pink strawberry with cream cheese icing, red velvet with cream, and vanila with raspberry jam and buttercream

For our cake, we selected a marble (yellow and fudge). It was the best of what we sampled. At my cousin's wedding, her cake was half vanilla, half red velvet. I wanted vanilla, but by the time I got to the cake table, there was only red velvet left. It would have been good if it had cream cheese frosting, which, frankly, is the only frosting that belongs on red velvet cake. Instead it was a fondant, and it tasted like cardboard covered in glue. My favorite cake is white cake, and more often than not, it's proven to be the best wedding cake.

That is a strange frosting idea. You can never go wrong with basic white cake.
