Cabin Weddings

Carrie, on September 25, 2023 at 4:24 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 4
Hi! I’m currently looking into having a cabin wedding. My idea is to have both the ceremony & reception there. Our guest list would be well under 100 people as it would be more of a destination wedding for us. We’re looking at Tennessee, NC, VA, or WV. Has anyone done this and have any suggestions/recommendations? It’s hard to find information since it’s not something many people seem to do. Thank you!

How long would guests be asked to stay? The normal duration of the ceremony and reception or multiple days?

Browse campgrounds on Google and see which ones rent out for events.

Many such venues require you to rent out the cabins in advance ie cover the cost of guest accommodations as a condition for reserving the location for a wedding. If so, the problem is guests are not obligated to stay there and it would be very improper to pass among costs to your guests even if they do. The fact that it’s destination also means that it is inconveniently located to all your guests, including both families. My guess is that these are some of the reasons you don’t hear as much about these kind of weddings.

I would suggest choosing a campground within 30 minutes of a town that has good hotels/ lodges as an alternative housing option. As this will be a destination wedding for everyone, do consider you may have a higher decline rate and some may decline due to being intimidated by the outdoors. Also, prioritize back-up plans in case of rain, mud, lightning, road closures, and flash floods.

    Good luck.

Not in the states you're looking at, but nearby... I suggest looking in the Hocking Hills, OH area. Lots of camps/cabins with a variety of prices. Lots of outdoor activities to keep guests entertained!
