CA venue with guests staying on site

Laurie, on April 28, 2015 at 11:25 AM Posted in Planning 0 18

Hello!

I have just begun planning my wedding for Spring 2016 and am looking for a venue where my guests can stay on site. If not all guests can stay, I would at least like my wedding party to sleep there. We have a small budget - under 15,000 - so probably cannot afford a hotel. Does anyone know of private estates or small B&Bs that are reasonably priced?

Thank you!!

My FH's cousin got married at Cambria Pines Lodge in Cambria. I have no idea what their budget was, but it's a cute little town on the Central Coast. It was about halfway from both LA and SF. Everyone from out of town stayed on site. Looking at their website, it looks like they have some specials going on for a variety of different kinds/dates of weddings.

FutureMrsDrF - I have been looking at Cambria Pines Lodge! It's actually one of my top choices right now.

Preferably I'd like to stay about 2-3 hours away from LA but am open to all of California. I have done many google searches but I posted my question here in hopes of hearing personal reviews and real bride experiences.

I don't know how much it would cost, but check out the coastal cities. How big is your wedding? 25 people, 200 people? That makes a HUGE difference in giving ideas.

Sorry - guest count is around 120. I don't necessarily need all of my guests on site but I would like for at least the bridal party and possibly some family members, so room for about 20 would work too.

As a guest, I definitely enjoyed the venue. The bride and I have talked a little since, too, and from what I can tell they were great. She decided not to have a wedding cake and they made her about 30 pies. Everything ran smoothly, the food was delicious, and the rooms were nice enough. The couple got a really nice suite right in the gardens, too.

If you are open to the Santa Cruz area, take a look at the Sequoia Retreat Center, YMCA Camp Campbell, or Amphitheatre of the Redwoods at Pema Osel LIng. All of them offer lodging, and if I remember correctly, you get the venues for the whole weekend. Based on the prices they all gave me a few months ago, they should fit your budget!

Ok so I grew up in California and if I was getting married there I would want to get married at The Madonna Inn, in San Luis Obispo. The rooms are a little pricy, but if you want to look into it, I googled it and here are some specs from wedding spot.

    Rental Fees

The rental fee ranges from $400 to $750 for a reception and includes 4 hours of event time excluding set up and clean up time. The set up fee for a ceremony is $1,750 with a reception rental or a ceremony only wedding which ranges from $1,250 to $2,000. Additional hours can be arranged for a fee ranging from $100/hr to $250/hr depending upon the reception space rented. A non-refundable security deposit of $500 is required.

    Wedding Cost

The average wedding cost at Madonna Inn is estimated at between $5,672 and $15,597 for a ceremony & reception for 100 guests.

    Good luck.

On my list was Hotel 741 in Laguna Beach. It's a former public hotel, but now it's only private. There are 13-14 rooms, and has maid service like any other hotel. A wedding means lodging in all rooms for 2 nights, and then their private chef designs the wedding meal with you. There are indoor and outdoor spaces.

I don't know if it works in your budget, but marrying outside of the peak summer months really helps. Good luck!

I really love Crystal Cove Cottages, and you can have your event there for mid-range prices. The place is spectacular right on the beach.

If you are looking for a bed and breakfast, I loved this place in Rancho Cucamonga.

Thank you for the feedback everyone! Please keep it coming!

Devin - I emailed YMCA Camp Campbell and haven't heard back, did you have any trouble getting a hold of them? I will also look into the other venues you suggested

I can't remember the pricing but your post reminded of a venue I looked at that was lovely but wouldn't fit my expected guest size. Shade Hotel in Manhattan Beach! Super cute boutique hotel. Would fit about 120 comfortably and the ceremony/reception space is in a courtyard in the center of the building with about 12 rooms overlooking the space. Their requirement would entail booking those rooms but seriously, those were gorgeous guest rooms. I need an excuse to stay there lol

Laurie, it did take them a few days to get back to me, but when they did they included pretty detailed info sheet. Nestldown is another place to contact. GORGEOUS property, but the most expensive of the bunch unfortunately. Hopefully Camp Campbell gets back to you soon! We live nearby, and it was our #1 (by far) until the FILs offered to let us use their property.

I was looking for the same thing as you until I changed my mind. This place really stood out to me based on the site and after contacting the owner. It's called El Dorado Ranch

    www.theeldoradoranch.com

Minimum of 3 nights at 635 and they allowed 20 overnight guest and a 500 - 1000 wedding event fee depending on guest count. You can have your own vendors also.
