Buying pop & mixers for wedding

Katie, on July 21, 2020 at 2:32 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 4

I have about 150 people coming to our wedding. We're getting Pepsi & Sprite. We have several non drinkers who will go through a lot of Pepsi, and a lot of Crown & Sprite drinkers too. Any recommendations on how much to get? Or if it's better to get cans or bottles? Should I get additional types of pop?

I think getting those two is good because they’re basic and people like them. I would try to count for at least two drinks per person for the soda pop

Cans are more economical and don't go flat like bottles do. If you have a Bevmo in your area or similar warehouse liquor store, they can give you a closer estimate based on what people drink: certain cocktails vs nonalcoholic choices.

Also make sure you have diet sodas.

How long is your reception? Count on 2 sodas per person per hour.

You know your guests the best - My personal experience is

Cola / Diet (Again you know your guests - but always go 60/40 (towards the popular selection)

Sprite - Good mixer and good for kids

Ginger Ale - good mixer and older adults love it

Cans are probably your best option unless you can find economically (if important) the mini cans (that way you don't get a lot of wasted soda)

2 - 3 drinks per person / per hour - I always estimate on the high.
