Bustle Suggestions for Strapless Trumpet Wedding Dress with Ribbon Waist

Dreamer, on July 21, 2016 at 8:37 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

I bought a David's Bridal Strapless Trumpet Wedding Dress with Ribbon Waist satin gown. It is a simple gown and I'm going to change the belt to a full rhinestone belt all the way around. The question I have is how should I bustle it?

It has beautiful satin covered buttons all the way down to the end of the sweep train. In picture #3 I included a sample of a bustle that is similar to my type of gown. I don't like that bustle style at all. Does anyone else have this gown? How will you be bustling it.

Any ideas from WW crowd are welcome. Thanks.

What did the DB seamstress recommend?

You can always bustle under the dress. If it were me, I would worry about people stepping on it constantly!

@E + T. I haven't been yet for alterations but I want to go in with suggestions. I don't want to get pushed into something that I don't like because I don't have any other ideas on what might look good.

@Fall Bride. I kind of like that one point bustle they are showing you. I wonder how that will look on a very plain dress. The French Bustle should look great on your gown with all that lace.

The style you show is a French bustle, what Fall Bride is showing is traditional. I personally like traditional better in most cases but I think with the style of your dress, French looks good! Have the seamstress show you a traditional.

ETA: I don't think a side bustle would look right only because of your dress' structure (Sorry Cathy!)

I have a very similar silhouette but different fabric and I think my train may be a tad longer. I have a French bustle and I love it!

@FallBride That's the same exact dress I bought and I was having the same dilemma. The DB alterations lady suggested the French bustle when I picked up my dress. I'm leaning more towards the traditional bustle. I bought a different sash to go over the one it comes with because I wanted more sparkle.

@smat, I think I'll have them pin it up like that to see how it would look.

@Cathy, your dress is amazing. I also like how it is tucked underneath so it looks all one length without putting bulk on.
