Buffet Seating Plan?

Jovan, on June 18, 2016 at 12:32 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 43

We are not doing a seating plan because we have a buffet styled menu. But can you do a seating plan even if ?

Are you're guests still sitting at tables? If so do a seating chart assigning tables not seats. If you don't assign tables you will need extra tables as people will sit where they want to and if they aren't comfortable they will not sit at a table with other guests

Yes! Even though you have a buffet you need to do a seating plan.

I would still assign at least tables. I've been to plenty of buffet weddings but we had assigned tables and it was a lot more organized.

We had a buffet and did assign tables. It cuts down on the confusion of people having to figure out where to sit and who to sit with. Unless you are having a super small wedding (under 20 guests), I would recommend one.

Wow I had no idea that people do assigned tables at buffet styled dinners. I'll take that into consideration. Thank You.

Yes you should. Usually people get seated first at the table, put down purses drinks etc and then get called up to the buffet by table to prevent super long lines. If there's no assigned seating and everyone rushes to the buffet there may be confusion. If you have a DJ they will have a good idea of how this works.

Totally agree with assigned tables. Was at a wedding last week that had no assignment people were adding seats to tables. It was uncomfortable.

I'm doing a seating chart and we are having a buffet. I don't see what one has to do with the other.

We had a buffet and we assigned tables.

We went to a wedding without assigned tables, and I was not about to have that same nonsense that ensued at our wedding.

I've never been to a wedding without assigned tables, buffet or not.

We are having a buffet but will assign tables to minimize drama and confusion.

I am having a buffet but no seating assignments. I've seen weddings without seating arrangements work smoothly if people just act like grow ups. I've also had assigned seats where I've been lonely and uncomfortable the whole night. It can go either way.

I'm assigning tables, but not seats. Open seating can lead to all kinds of headaches. I went to a wedding once where my date and I had to sit at different tables because there weren't assigned tables. You also typically need extra tables/chairs (ie, more money on rentals) to account for the tables not filling up completely.

Please at least do assigned tables. I day-of coordinated a wedding without a seating plan (buffet) and it was chaos. Please, please - at least do tables assigned.

We did buffet and did table assignments, not seats. This helps because you can strategically place people with someone they know rather than them get stuck at a random table and them leave an empty chair between them and the person next to them.
