Budget wedding...in/near Bucks County Pa...does that exist

Meghan , on December 12, 2013 at 12:21 PM Posted in Planning 0 26

Hey Ladies~ So wedding is a while off but as we're starting to think things over...what are some "reasonable" places? We are in Bucks Pa and have large families. When all is said and done, we're looking at 200 people. I don't want to pay a down payment on a house for a one day event! I know no bride does! Any one out there have any suggestions of where to start looking? I have visited a few places and really don't want to waste any more time looking at places that get my hopes up only to be out of our budget range. Thanks!!!!

I would ask Paris she's from PA.I'm not sure what part but she's always been really helpful.

Philly is expensive but Bucks County tends to run higher (or at least comparable to Center City/Main Line areas).

What is your definition of reasonable?

I would say to start out at your fire halls. They usually allow you to bring in a caterer but they handle the bar. That seems to make it a bit less expensive bar wise. They should be your better price option that can hold a group of your size.

You can look at places like American Legion halls/VFWs. Not sure about room capacity for most of those. There are 1 or 2 near here that are larger but generally are a bit smaller. They won't have a really fancy look. You will have to do more with decor but it's a trade off for price. You have to look a good bit. You do have time to do the leg work, but if you find a place that fits your group/budget, I would get the deposit in asap.

I'm in western PA so not much help at all.

Depending on how serious you are about being a budget bride look into church halls, VFWs, firehalls etc. People are coming to celebrate with you because they love you and are excited for you. Most don't expect a red carpet affair - good food, good drinks, good music.

I'm in Mont co. And 200 ppl for relatively cheap will be hard l. Like PP's said, fire halls and legions would be your best bet.

Also in Montco and got married in Chester -- 200 people on a small budget is going to be difficult, but "small" is relative. For a summer wedding, look into local parks and halls. Most of the typical wedding venues in Bucks Co will run about $100/person at least in my experience

Three places in or near lower Bucks County that have the reputation of being reasonable are Kings' Caterers in Levittown, The Imperial Room in Croydon, and The Quartet Club in northeast Philadelphia, just past the Bucks County border.

I'm born and raised in Bucks County - if you can give me a better idea of your budget and what part of bucks you're interested in (and where you've already looked) I would be more than happy to help!

I am in Western PA as well (near Pittsburgh) so I have no idea! If that is your set wedding date though, we will be date twins! You should consider changing your avatar to something a little more personal which will help us all get to know, and remember, you! Congrats and happy planning! and welcome to WW!

Thank you sooooooo much all of you!!!! This is super helpful! I am going to sit down tonight and take a closer look at the suggestions! @ Jules, we are thinking of keeping it about $80-90 pp...we have looked at pen ryn which starts at or above $100 and Clarks landing yacht club in DelRan NJ. Fell in love with that but it is still slightly over our range plus worrying about the alcohol and insurance....however if the price were right I would be more than willing to over look the headache that is going to bring! I'm not particular, however if we could stay away from the whole firehall thing I would be most happy. My fiance is divorced and had first wedding in one....fresh start, fresh venue!!! Keep the suggestions rolling, you guys are great!

Check out The Hamilton Manor in Hamilton Township, NJ. This is our venue & it's gorgeous. It also starts within your price range pp with alcohol, food, linens, cocktail hour & a few other things included that I can't remember atm.

I'm in my phone so I can't see your wedding date (which tends to make a big different in price), but off the top of my head my first suggestions are Warrington Country Club and Cedarbrook Country (technically Montco but really close) they both have all inclusive packages in your price range!

Try Valley Crest Farm, in NJ. And I know you don't want to hear this, but a budget wedding for 200 is tough. If you go to immediate family, you'll be surprised how fast you cut that budget.

I live in Philadelphia and we're doing everything in the city. We found a great place in Manayunk that was REALLY reasonable but we were already in love with our venue. Check out Beat Street Station. Its really cool, very reasonable and the woman in charge of events was fabulous when she showed us around.

To take off some of the price tag, look at a Friday night instead. You usually end up with 15% off or so at most venues.

Hi, Philly area bride here! One place I looked at that was under $100/pp was The Loft at Sweet Water in Pennsburg, PA...but I think their maximum capacity is around 160. I am doing a Friday wedding since a lot of traditional places require you to meet high minimums for Saturdays. I looked at 15-20 venues and most run $100-150/pp, but be open to something a bit different...like renting a more unusual space and getting it catered. Good luck!!

I live in Montco and I've been on the Spirit of Philadelphia (the boat from Ashley's post). It's a lot of fun, they have a dance floor and everything. You go out and cruise around in the river for several hours. I think it'd be beautiful for a wedding. Their food wasn't great but they might step it up for weddings (I was on a cruise for senior week in college).

I had my first wedding reception (back at the dawn of time) at the King George II Inn in Bristol, PA:

    http://www.kginn.com/

It is very pretty, right on the waterfront, and has reasonable prices. It might be worth a look. However, I'm not sure what the maximum number it can accommodate is. (My first wedding was only about 80 people.)

We loved Spring Mill Manor and Spring Mill Country Club in Bucks Co! Prices weren't bad, and I believe they included quite a bit. Northampton Valley Country Club also included quite a bit at a reasonable price.
