Budget planning

Hey Ya'll

We are in the final stretch of things and our budget is still just a little overwhelming for us. I have tried to cut corners and take some things out so now the bridal party and myself are doing our own makeup and hair, the guys are going to be paying for their own tuxes be it renting or just out right buying them and my girls are buying their dresses as well.

One of the biggest things in our budget is my wedding band, I told FH that I can look for something cheaper and it started an argument between us. He flat out refused to cut the cost of my wedding band even though we haven't bought them yet. Now im looking at other places to cut down the budget and he is still mad at me that I even suggested getting a cheaper wedding ring.

Was I in the wrong to suggest it?

I don't think you're wrong in that. But I guess the band is one of those things you'd be having forever so he probably felt like if money was to be spent it should go to that.

I tried the same thing honestly. My fiance spent way too much on my E ring! When ring shopping, I was looking at just plain solid bands and he wasn't having it. Ended up spending about $1400 on my wedding bands when I really only wanted to spend $200 or $300.

Wedding bands were more expensive than I originally thought they would be. Mine was $800 and his was $550. But they will hopefully last forever. You're not wrong for suggesting it, he just obviously is very passionate about you having a nice ring and that's okay.

What else can you cut? Are you doing a champagne toast? I choose not to do that to save $500. Pie was included in our catering estimate so we're having pie instead of cake (Saved another $500ish). Maybe you could purchase less expensive shoes if you haven't purchased those yet. We're not doing a photobooth because it's not important to us and not in the budget. I booked my photographer for 5 hours instead of 8 hours and saved $550. There's always ways to save money as long as you haven't signed contacts or already purchased items.

I think it was really nice of you to offer that up. I actually had my band made by a jeweler and it was cheaper than buying the one I wanted.

No you were not wrong for your suggestions. He wants his bride to be to have the best therefore he is willing to spend a little extra.
