Brunch Wedding Ideas!!

Abby, on May 3, 2019 at 7:57 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 9
Hello! My fiancé and I recently decided to do a brunch for our wedding reception! We are both in love with the idea since we are both crazy about brunch. Other people we’ve told just think we’re crazy in general for doing things a little nontraditional. But I’m excited to plan our brunch reception!
So who here has done a brunch for their wedding? Any thoughts, ideas, or advice for me? So far the only plans I have is to have a buffet of breakfast foods, pancakes, eggs, bacon, catered from one of our favorite restaurants and I want to plan a big display of donuts!

Since my wedding begins at 9am we are having a breakfast reception, the traditional American breakfast plus some Hawaiian favorites, a mimosa bar with 4 different juices, our wedding cake will be made of donuts, there will be other pastries as well as fruit cereals and yogurt.

You'll also need lunch items as well. Sliders, chicken and waffles(mini or regular sized) Shrimp and grits. You can have mimosas, bellini's and or make batches of sangria

What about some different kind of quiches, maybe an omlet station. For the drinkers, mimosas and bloody marys, for the non drinkers maybe a coffee station with different creamers etc., tea, juice? Now I want a brunch menu LOL

Yesssss we did our Sunday boozy brunch wedding dance party. Wouldn't have changed a thing.
We had a huge range of sweet and savory that defines brunch; chicken in waffle batter with maple glaze, soft boiled egg and pork belly, breakfast strata (a scrambled egg frittata vegetable dish), a green salad, fruit, stuffed french toast with marscapone bananas and strawberries, homefries, ricotta and honey on toast, meatballs with maple glaze to bookend it.
We had homemade Italian cookies from his grandmother and my mother brought Chinese and Filipino dessert. In addition we had croissants and muffins and an assortment.
Signature drinks, guests were greeted with mimosas and had 6 signature drinks to choose from, some were coffee liqueur drinks or fruity ones, you could do a bloody Mary bar or mimosa station.
    Tips:
depending on the time of your wedding, consider your bridal party size. We had all our photos including first look and family and extended family portraits beginning at 9am and our wedding started at 11:30am. Which meant my one best lady and I woke up before the sunrise and had hair and makeup starting at 6am.
(we had photos done before so we could spend the entire time with our guests.)

It might be challenging to have a dance party in the middle of the day, open bar helps if you're trying to achieve it. Obviously if you and your partner love to dance it helps, too, and the reliable group of friends as party starters.

We had our welcome lunch at noon the day before, it helped everyone get on the same schedule with eating and drinking.

Consider the brunch music, we had Sam cooke music and motown/guardians of the Galaxy vibes happening. It set the stage for the vibe and everybody was toasty and were content. If you can get a DJ, and dancing is a priority, treat yourself.

Donuts are a great and easy hit (we had them for our welcome lunch). Perhaps have little sleeves or baggies to take home in case theres leftovers.

A brunch wedding with shifted timeline is so fun, especially from a guests point of view. I will disclose downsides which are way early start especially if you have a large wedding party and want to do photos ahead of the wedding instead of at a cocktail hour. Guests loved it since less waiting time and they could go to work the next day. Depending on your venue and if you have wedding planners or coordinators, you need to consider the time you have to set up (we were able to drop everything out with directions and the venue staff put everything in it's place so we were lucky.)

Have the best time! We were in bed by 7:30pm (the wedding ended at 6:30) and wrecked but didn't even have a hangover cause the party started so early.

One more tip: make sure your photographer knows of your shifted timeline. Our photographer booked a wedding the night before ours and it was a bit of a struggle. She did amazingly but for a normal human it would be too much, and she was pregnant!

Hey!! We are also planning a brunch wedding! Our plan is to have simple breakfast foods (bacon, eggs, sausage, potatoes, French toast) and then some chicken and waffles. Were also planning on having a mimosa bar, a sangria bar, and a coffee station.

We are also planning on doing a dessert station with a donut wall as well!

Our plan is to have the ceremony at 10:30 and food start at 11:30. Have everything wrapped up by around 4 pm. If we aren’t too slammed, we do plan on going out with really close friends later at night for a more intimate celebration
