Brunch wedding appetizers

Genny, on October 7, 2016 at 2:20 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 14

Hi! So my FH and I are having a brunch-time wedding. The ceremony is at 10:30 a.m. followed by cocktail hour from 11 to noon and then the reception (with a breakfast buffet) following. So right now we're offering two options for the cocktail hour apps -- fruit and mini sausage biscuit sliders. I'm now wondering if we should add a third option? (any suggestions? I am thinking maybe donut holes?) For a normal evening wedding I would definitely have more options, but I just don't know how hungry people will be at that time? What do you all think? Should I add another option and, if yes, what should it be?

I would add one more thing. Maybe something like French toast skewers? Donut holes would also be good! I wouldn't think people will eat quite as much as a dinner reception. But, it's definitely better to have a little too much than to have hungry guests!

Little mini quiches? Maybe mini chicken and waffle sliders? I wouldn't go with something too sweet. Puff pastry triangles with mushroom filling sound good too.

I don't really think you will need more. It's not a lot of time from the ceremony to the reception. But if you do decide to you could do mini bagels.

I would be fairly hungry around that time so I think a third option would be a good idea. I think donut holes may be too sweet, especially when there will be cake later (I'm assuming). I like the quiche suggestion, you could also do like a hash or potato latkes for something savory.

Potato pancakes/hash browns with smoked salmon and sour cream would be yum also.

Aaaaaaaand now I'm super hungry. I'm also on team mini-quiche, or some little croissant/puff pastry cups, with fillings like ham and cheese, spinach and cheese etc...

What I see at my early weddings USUALLY is a shorter cocktail hour (like 45 minutes as opposed to an hour+). People don't really hit the bar, but passing mimosas and BM's can really cut down on that traffic when people first come in.

I'd say mini quiches, donut skewers, potato pancakes with smoked salmon/sour cream, deviled eggs (old fashioned but I can't tell you how those babies fly off the trays). Maybe a cheese display?

I used to cater and I still get really excited by brunch weddings. Those potato pancake and smoked salmon jobbies would look bangin' in those Chinese soup spoons. And no chance of getting sour cream on your fingers that way.

Lox and cream cheese canapes, mini-blintzes, mini-quiches, oysters, shrimps, roast beef carving station. Yes, mimosas are a definite go, also Baileys, Grand Marnier, and Kaluha for coffee.
