Brooklyn Bridge Park Wedding

Ivelisse , on July 15, 2017 at 12:44 AM Posted in Planning 0 22

My finance and I are getting married August 20, 2017 at Brooklyn Bridge Park. I am a little nervous because our guest will need to sit on the stairs with their gowns. Do you think we should purchase floor runners for our guest to sit on?

Also if you have any suggestions regarding small decor that we can incorpore to our outdoor ceremony please feel free to share.

You should have chairs for everyone. Making them sit on the ground isn't at all appealing. What if they have health issues and can't make it all the way down like that? No one should have to stand either if they can't sit on concrete. You need chairs or a new ceremony location.

Wait, what? You expect people to wear gowns to your wedding, and then sit on concrete steps?

Hopefully you don't have anyone in attendance who is elderly or has hip/knee/back problems.

You don't need floor runners, you need chairs.

To give you an idea. The ceremony location looks like this.

We do plan to bring four chairs for the guest who are elderly and can not sit on the stairs.

As for the floor runners; as you notice in the picture there are no floor runners however my fiancé and I are wondering if we should have some.

No, you need to get chairs and line the steps with them, if there is enough room for them to fit comfortably without people tipping them over. It'll look better and be more comfortable. Where is your reception? Close by?

4 chairs for guests who are elderly? What about people with bad backs or knees? If you haven't asked you'd never know. I'm 25 and was in a car accident so my neck and back are messed up, but you'd never know looking at me unless you knew me 7 years ago.

Sure I can sit on the ground for a bit but 1) I'd need help up, 2) I would be angry and in pain and, 3) I would be uncomfortable for however long the ceremony was.

I would look into chair rental but if you're dead set against that then yes you should cover the steps.

I know I'm not invited to your wedding but I'm weird when it comes to sitting places.. especially if I'm dressed up. I think having the runners would keep your guests from worrying about what they are sitting on. Love the location!

I've been to a wedding here and to me it's beautiful, but I also lived in Brooklyn my whole life and sitting on "the stoop" is something I am used to. There were chairs at the wedding I went to, not many as the space is not incredibly large. I would definitely look into having chairs rented for the short time you're there, especially for any elderly.

I will also say the sound of the train over there was overpowering. The officiant had to actually stop his speech when it would pass by.

That aside .. such a gorgeous spot!!!

Looks more like an amphitheatre than straight up stairs, so I can totally see sitting there for the entire ceremony. If they're swept, I'm sure that would be fine, but I'd worry about the uncovered surface if it had previously rained.

A college friend of mine got married at that exact spot. She rented about 30 of those standard-issue-wedding white wooden folding chairs.

Congratulations! There are few better backdrops than the lower Manhattan skyline.

How did the ceremony go? I am thinking about Brooklyn bridge park as a ceremony location?

I once saw a wedding at the Brooklyn Bridge and everyone was just sitting on the steps. It was gorgeous!
You could have some cloth to cover the stairs or provide cushions of some sort

We decided on another location but we did obtain and pay for the permit. It was only 500 dollars I believe for two hours. That was last year of course so pricing may have change. You should check out their website.
