Today I left work, went to the grocery store, went to take my purse off my arm, the strap caught my ring, and my band snapped (ill put a pic at the bottom). I immediately called fh in tears. This is the 3rd ring I've had of this style because of complications with it. I called zales immediately, thank god i don't erase voicemails because I had the number for their customer service manager from my last issue with it. She's awesome and really helping me a lot. But I'm still devastated. And fh feels absolutely horrible about it, even though it's not his fault. And I feel bad that he feels bad. It's just a super shitty situation. And I haven't decided what my outcome is going to be yet. Just needed to vent because it's been a really bad couple of hours.

I have a ring from Zales (not my engagement ring, but a birthstone ring) that has a very similar, very thin band...it snapped on me once right in the center around the back, and they repaired it as well. I haven't really worn it since but they basically told me because the band is so thin, it would most likely happen again. It's not worth the stress, I would either get a new ring or just have the diamond put in a new setting...I'm so sorry! Smiley sad

Rose gold gets its color mostly from copper which is super malleable and ductile. Therefore it's easier to distort and ultimately break.

Thank you everyone for all your kind words and suggestions. After sitting on this for a little while, I ultimately called the service rep and left her a message asking her to call me tomorrow. I'm going to decline the gift card and ask for a refund of the value of the ring. I'm going to take my broken ring to a highly respected local jeweler that I actually know (I work at a credit union and he does his banking with us). I'm going to see him tomorrow and see if he can help me set it in something new.

This is the 3rd time I've seen a broken band from Zales. I'm so sorry you're dealing with this OP.

So sorry this happened! I would be devastated if anything happened to my ering. I hope you can get it fixed/get a different style. In my honest opinion, if it were me, since this is the 3rd time its happened I would take the center stone, research local independently owned jewelers with excellent reviews, and get a new setting or even a custom made ring with the stone. Good luck and keep us updated on what you decide!! ETA: just read your comment about asking forbthe refund and going to a local jeweler! Good luck!

I'm so sorry! If you do look for a new setting, I'd recommend James Allen. They are an online retailer but I love my ring and it's a pave band and thin like yours. It has the blue sapphire I chose myself and they have constant customer service. 24/7 chat and phone service. My ring feels well made and I'm sort of rough with t. They have gorgeous settings.

It sounds like you have a plan. But seeing your ring reminds me of the ones Sam and Sue make. They're a husband and wife team out of Hawaii and have gorgeous rose gold rings! Maybe check them out as well.

I had similar experiences with my first ring. The band was was thin suvh as your and the diamonds kept popping out. So, FH upgraded me! He too would get upset!

@shana my first two issues with it were stones popping out. I thought that would happen again, never this. I'm still so shocked my band snapped.

So I went to the local jeweler first thing this morning. He's taking my stone out and resetting it in a solitaire setting. Setting, sizing, band $500. He took some money off for me, like I said I know him which works for me. And I'll have it back next week. I'm so grateful.

Ugh! I'm so sorry you keep having issues. You may want to go else where, they clearly aren't giving you quality!

@Melissa - I'm so happy to read this update! Local jewellers really are great. My ring is a family one - over 70 years old and I worried I'd never find a band and would have to have one custom made. The jeweler who sized it for me showed me some that would be a perfect match. I was truly impressed.

Yeah I almost cried when my ring broke a few days back. I hit it on a metal surface at work and the main stone took the damage. My finger is naked waiting for the repair to be done Smiley sad
