Bridezilla Confessions :-P

Ab, on August 18, 2010 at 8:41 PM Posted in Planning 0 21

Hey ladies!

I thought it would be funny to start a thread to poke fun at our bridezilla-esque activities. I don't have anything good yet since we are in the premature planning stages..He is from outside the US and is coming in 3 weeks and will propose; we've been talking about it for a long time, been together 6 years. it's always been a matter of logistics, me wanting to meet his fam first which I did, :-), grad school schedules, $, etc...sorry if there was already i thread like this!

One thing I have is in the middle of our discussion about planning. I said: "WAIT do you know what is happening here? I'm turning into a bridezilla already. (he finds the term as hilarious as do I). He said: "Ya I can see that." and we burst out laughing :-P

PS does anyone know how to crop a photo, it took my FH out of the pic!!

I still laugh everytime I think about my first venue open house. They had peacocks running freely, and I seriously thought about asking them to paint the peacocks to match my color scheme... It was a fleeting thought and I caught myself- but I still think it's hilarious.

My non-bridezilla bridezilla moment: Before we went for our detail meeting with the venue I had made a list of questions for us to ask. One of the questions was written as "Will they rake the leaves?" During the meeting I got a phone call and stepped off to the side while FH continued to talk to the coordinator. When I came back I heard her saying, "Yes, we will rake the leaves" and freaked out and nearly shouted, "NO!!! DON'T RAKE THE LEAVES!!!" I wanted them for the color and fall atmosphere. FH and the coordinator thought I was crazy.

Lol @ Pumpkin... if I was having a Fall wedding, I probably would have said something like that too. I always thought the look of leaves on the ground was beautiful. Now a REAL bridezilla moment would be something like "I only want you to rake up the smashed and completely dead leaves, leave the pretty red ones." LOL

Hmm... as for me? I honestly can't think of anything seriously bridezilla-esque. I did have a small fit when I found out that we had to have our ceremony at a different location than we planned... but I still believe that one was justified, since we only booked our venue because they told us that Catholic weddings had been held there before. Sigh. So far it has been the only hiccup in wedding plans though, so I have no complaints. We'll see if that stays the same come early Spring. lol

Hmm...I dunno if this counts. I was more just being a snot to a girl that I had to get drunk in order to stomach speaking to.

Fourth of July, I'm out with FS, our GM's, and their SO's. After a few drinks, I start talking weddings with our best man's FS (they were getting married end of the month) and I said, "Well I think that if you're enough of an adult to manage such a serious undertaking as marriage, then you should be enough of an adult to pay for it your d@mn self." Of course, I was pretending to be completely unaware that her parents were paying for everything...hate that b*tch.

I think the closest I came to Bridezilla was the paper lanterns. I started out with fifty 10" ones. Then I saw another bride who wanted to do cost-sharing on twenty-five 18" ones, so I decided to join in. But it turned out that twenty-seven were cheaper than twenty-five, because they got the price up enough so we'd get free shipping. Then Bed Bath and Beyond had a sale on some smaller battery-operated ones, so I got fifty of those, too. A friend and I spent most of a day getting the lighting into those 127 (!) lanterns.

I had a freak out on my MOH about how I didn't think she was being supportive, etc. I seriously flipped out and then she IM'd a coworker who is also a friend of mine who then IM'd me and asked me why I was being a bridezilla which made me stop and think (after I yelled at him for calling me a bridezilla, lol!) but it was at that moment I realized that not everyone in my life wants to talk wedding morning, noon and night.

I also broke down in tears to FS who was completely baffled that I was crying over having to have 2 bridal showers and had the nerve to ask me if I was PMSing.... which yeh, I was but HELLO, don't piss the bride off! Smiley winking

The closest Ive come is when we were talking about photo stuff. My FH is into photography and him and my dad were talking about packages and such and started saying how we didnt need one that came with an album, cause my fh could make one himself off of shutterfly. I flipped out and said you are NOT taking my album away from me. I pulled a shutterfly album from another event that was conveniently a couple feet away from on a book shelf and held it up saying...I dont care how good you can make it, this is NOT good enough for my wedding album!

I apologized for how I came across a few days later Smiley smile but it did get my point across.. they didnt try to take my professional album away again Smiley smile

The only Bridezillaish moment I've had so far I THINK is while doing our STD's. FH little sister (17 years old) does a lot of design work for their local newspaper and offered to design our STD's. I explained what I wanted (Just cropped color picture, with this wording in black arrange however looks best) she sent us seven proofs of completely over the top designed STD all with our picture tiny, in black and white and random colors everywhere... I finally got the guts to tell her I really wanted something more basic just...then really really outlined exactly what I wanted... yeah didn't work again... got another proof with Red everywhere scrawly script UGH... so I went through a website and got exactly what I wanted and ordered 50 of one of her designs that FH liked... I felt so bad hurting her feelings but dang listen to what I'm saying I want! lol - SO i got what I wanted and hopefully didn't hurt her feelings too badly because we used one of her's too Smiley smile

A couple weeks ago, on of the GMs decided to do this:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Mohawk.gif

Now, I know there have been discussions about not controlling people's lives and all, but a) he did it strictly for attention and b) all 4 of the other guys standing up there are clean-cut, conservative-looking young men. You tell me who people would be looking at on our big day. Suffice it to say, I flipped my sh!t for anyone in the group who would listen, and he's said he'd get rid of if I asked, but "only under duress". FH has promised they'll pin him down and shave his head at the bachelor party if he doesn't get rid of it before then. It makes me cringe just looking at it.

I only had one bridezilla-ish moment, and I think I'm the only who knew it. When I was looking at photographers, I found one that offered 3 hour packages for a good price with the items we wanted. I was doing this a month before the wedding, and he was available, so I thought it was a good deal. Our wedding/reception was very small, very intimate and would go from 1:00 to 4:00. When I spoke to my husband about it, the first words out of his mouth were: "Do we really need a photographer for a WHOLE 3 HOURS??" HUH?? Before hanging up, I told him I doubted I could find a photographer who would agree to have us all line up along side the edge of the road while he drove by and snapped a few pictures! YES, WE NEED THE ENTIRE 3 HOURS!!!!

When I got home that night, he apologized and agreed to meet with the photographer.

I had my only bridezilla moment the day of my wedding when my mother told me that it was HER day. I flipped out. I said that it is the only day in my life that everything would revolve around me and that it isn't her day...it's my day! Thank god my brother was there at that point to agree with me!

    I haven't had one yet... at least I don't think I have...

@Vanessa I think your FS's Aunt got what was coming to her. That's rude to insist on his cousins being in the wedding. The two of you get to make that decision!

I had 2 bridezilla moments. One was 4 weeks before the wedding when I was told my 3 cousins were bringing their 5 bad a** kids to the wedding when I was not having children at the wedding. I sent a nice little e-mail out that solved that problem.

Second was the day of the wedding. I just came from the beauty shop from getting my hair and makeup done. My headpiece was already in and everything. It took alittle long at the shop, which I planned for, just in case. Well, me and my MOH and photographer got out of our cars to realize we could not get into my hotel room where everything including my dress was. The hotel people were doing something to the pool that sprayed a gigantic cloud of black tar floating everywhere(including my room). We couldn't get to my room without getting the stuff all over us. My mother pulled up and I started screaming, "Oh, my gosh!! Get out of the car now." My MOH and mom went to the main office where we got a new room on the other side of the building and had to move all the stuff out without getting it dirty. While they did that I popped a bottle of bubbly in the parking lot and it was all good. I was 20 mins late for the ceremony...but they couldn't start without me. : )

I also made my MOH and mom take a chug of the bottle before I would put my dress on. Hey, it calmed everyone down.
