Bridesmaids dresses mix match HELP

Michelle, on July 21, 2015 at 11:55 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

I am getting married June 11, 2016 and I am having a hard time with choosing my wedding colors. I started with peach and then lilac and now I am thinking that I want to mix match colors. I have 8 bridesmaids so I am trying to figure out what will look the best together. I would love some advice! I was thinking I would do 3-4 colors and divide them throughout the bridal party. I think that some of these photos below look like EASTER and I do not want that. Do i throw in a grey? Any help would be appreciated!

I agree - those look like easter. I like the idea of different shades of the same color - maybe try that?

Mine all wore the same color and length by the same designer...this is the best pro pic I have right now. But if you want different colors, keep them all similar by keep the length the same...I personally only think the multi color look is best with pastes. A girl I know got married and did it with the darker colors, which I'm not a fan of (all the same dress). Obviously her bridal party was ridiculously large for a 32 year old.

@raelyn: I really do like that but I am so indecisive I cannot just choose one color.. and @maltese I agree that the dress should be the same length and I would make it the same material and all but I want different pastels. I just cant decide what colors will look best together.

Maybe just do the two colors? They could be the same length and material but the tops could be different and 4 would be in peach and 4 in lilac.

Don't confuse your wedding colors with BM dresses.... sure, you want them to be complimentary, but you don't want your girls to look like part of the decor! Smiley smile

I'd agree with the other girls to stick in one color family - pale pink/blush/peach/pale yellow; light gray/blue-gray/cornflower blue/powder blue; antique violet (purple-gray)/lavender/light mauve/periwinke... that sort of thing. You can bring the other colors in through flowers in their bouquets, or centerpieces, and in the table linens, etc.

My girls wore vibrant purple-blue with wildflower bouquets... the table linens were clover (pale) green, and the flowers on the table were antique blue hydrangeas. No one is going to be looking to see if every color in the BM dresses matches the linens.

Also, it's much harder to re-wear a mint green or candy-pink dress than a soft shade of purple, yellow, gray, etc. Since the girls have to buy the dresses, consider whether you're choosing colors they could reasonably wear to a summer birthday party or dinner after the wedding (e.g., if they shorten it).

@Rebecca...if its a dress specifically designed for a bridesmaid, NOBODY is going to wear the dress again, don't be that bride that says "you can wear it again!"

If you did this, I would go out and buy pastel striped ties in similar colors. That was my original plan (and i wanted the guys all in different ties like this)
