bridesmaid pant suits

rina519, on January 27, 2010 at 12:10 AM Posted in Planning 0 23

One of my bridesmaid(whom is also my aunt) does not wear dresses at all. She told me that she would do it for me and joked that I better take picturesSmiley smile Well after putting alot of though into my girls dress I gave up trying to find the right one that would look good on all of them, So I told my aunt that if she like she can wear a nice pant suit. I also suggestesd this because I do not see the reasoning for her to she spend money on a dress that she will hate being in, and never wear again. Do you guys thing I made the wronge choice? If you dont do you know where I can find a nice set in either dark purple or dark pink. Thank you

If you want them all in dresses just give them the color and let them pick their own. That way they will all be in dresses but they will all be comfortable because they picked their own.

I have suggested that my girl just pck an dress in the color I want, but my other girl is beng a pain in the butt. she wants the girls to be the same, and have a dress with sleeve. I can not find a dress that she likes so I gave up, she doesnt know it yet, I think its for the best. With my aunt, I really dont want her to feel uncomfortable wearing a dress. It means more to me to have her there, So I dont mind if pants.

It's really up to you. My sister had a "punk rock lesbian bridesmaid" who wore pants. She did compromise and wear a top (one of the separates from davids bridal) that matched the other girls, and let us to her hair and makeup. it was so much fun! She was able to be herself, and be there to support my sister.

    I say go for it!!

Maybe look for a mother of the bride outfit that is a pant suit. Or if you really want her in a dress, maybe a long dress would make her feel more comfortable.

Depending on her size...Romans or Woman Within have formal pant suits under their special occassion category!

I was thinkig romans, chadwicks, or neport news. newport news carries some CRAZY colors sometimes lmao!!

i agree with what you decided. she should be comfortable. in fact, if you can find a good pantsuit, why not let them all wear one? if not the pants, most would definitely wear the blazer again Smiley winking

I think that letting your aunt wear pants is great. There are TONS of great looking pants suits. In fact, if she doesn't mind she can get a very loose wide leg pantsuite that would look like a skirt if shes not walking.

It maybe hard to find - I would suggest looking for a great seamstress and having one made for her.

I think it depends on your area. I'm in DC and there are a lot of seamstresses here...cost here is all about how long you are willing to look and what you are willing to pay.

Ex. My seamstress for my dress alterations comes with thousands (literally) of great recommendations from real brides. She is better than most salon work but she charges 30%-50% LESS than the salon. So I'm paying about $150 for my alterations and bustle while the salon quoted me $300 just to get started.

Oh! WHere are you located? If you are not far from NYC I have a seamstress there who quoted me less than $950 to recreate a wedding dress I wanted (the dress cost $4900). She was refered to me by my bff who's sister used her to make her wedding dress and the BM dresses

Like shdvl said, look at the Alfred Angelo Mothers collection. Most of them are separates and the bottoms can be ordered in the pant style. They have tons of nice dressy tops that will still look fabulous for your wedding and will be a match to your wedding colors. This will also give you the option of having your BMs choose from AAs BM separates category also so your BMs can choose a style that is becoming to each of them and your picky maid can have her sleeves.

Yaknow.. i was gonna ask a similar question.. sort of. DB's affiliate, Mens Warehouse gives the groom a free tux rental or something if the bestman and groomsmen (equaling a total of 5 without the groom i thnk) all rent from them. Well, my FH only has his brother (best man) and his best friend and my brother standing up with him. So i said maybe his biological father (whose.. not really around much and we arent even sure if he'll show to the wedding) could rent a tux from them too.. (btw, does the grooms father wear a tux? generally speaking?) and FH said he prob wouldnt wear a tux anyway.. sooo.. my moms wire (life partner, gf, whaever you wanna cal her, she's like a stepmom to me) won't wear a dress i'm sure. I was wondering if she wanted to wear a tux (good chance she'll be walking me down the aisle) and if so, can i count her towards the mens warehouse tuxes??? ACK so many details!
