Bridesmaid gift ideas... what are yours?

Laura, on December 28, 2019 at 7:03 PM Posted in Planning 0 18

Has anyone thought of something unique or different for the women in their wedding? I'm running out of ideas... Help?

Not really unique, but since I'm having a winter wedding I'm getting them a snowflake necklace and earrings set. I'll also be helping pay for their dresses since most of them are in school.

    Hey there, Laura!

Personally, I think jewelry is a nice gift. You could find something personal or personalized for each bridesmaid and if it’s something they can also wear on the day, even better Smiley smile

What type of gifts do you not want to give them?

I'm having a hard time with this as well because i want something the girls will like, use again, etc. So far I've settled on a wine tumbler (no name or bridesmaid) with a nice bottle of wine from a local restaurant. I was also debating getting them some earrings to wear for the wedding or a getting ready shirt/pjs they can wear again. I'm just trying to avoid writing bridesmaid on anything because i know thats the type of thing that usually gets thrown away eventually.

I’m a little ways out for buying or shopping for anything but I was thinking of personalized tote bags/duffel bags with face masks, eye masks and robes or pjs/nighties. I know that isn’t really unique per se but in the past I’ve gotten jewelry and wine glasses that I never used and I figure these would be more practical and feminine.

I kind of wanted to stay away from jewelry and shawls/wraps for the day. I don't care for shawls and I don't think they will wear jewelry beyond the day. It's costume jewelry so unlikely to last and too formal for most other events. So, I wanted something that was more practical and something they'd likely keep beyond the day. Can that make sense?

I thought the jewelry and wine glasses might not get used... I know that I didn't keep the things I was given either... Good point!

    I totally get that!

I love the idea of personalized cosmetic/toiletry bags. I would be delighted with one of those as a gift Smiley smile

Do you think I need more than those? Or should I put something in them? My color is bellini - so peach. Maybe peach bellini lip gloss. I know it exists. lol!

This isn't really unique, but I am getting them earring that can be worn again, a cute bag with their names on it and a few other things, but I just feel like there are only some many presents you can give and not spend so much!

The price struggle is real. For sure! I think your ideas are good! Have you noticed that most recommended gifts are like 4 things - wine, jewelry, totes, robes. I just wanted something a bit outside the box. Smiley smile

Yea I did pretty traditional items. We are having a destination wedding so I got all my guest these awesome leather bag tags. I am sure you have already looked but Etsy has some good out of the box ideas

That is a nice idea. You could also include some mini bits from somewhere like Bath & BodyWorks (check for coupons first or get during a sale!) like peach hand cream, mini body spritz, body cream, etc. They have a 'Pretty as a Peach' scent which is lovely!

I made little gift kits with a handwritten sentimental note, local honey, and Big Love tea. I live across the country from all of my people Smiley sad so I wanted something small that I knew they would each use- and they all love tea! So it was an easy, transportable, meaningful gift from me.

It's easy to get carried away with big things people will never use- I try to be wary of this in all gift giving.
