Bridesmaid dress help! 30 days and counting

Margaret, on November 15, 2018 at 4:05 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

Hello all!

Long story:

One of my bridesmaids (A) ordered her dress custom from Azazie and accidentally shipped it to her parents' house (she goes to school in FL, her parents live in PA). Her mom opened up the dress today (she received it back in September, but A just had this sudden feeling that she needed her mom to look at the dress), and thinks that the dress is going to be far too small for A. A's mom is actually worried that they just sent the wrong size. A is flying up for Thanksgiving next week and will try on the dress, but is worried that it won't fit.
We are exactly 30 days out from my wedding day, so A is completely freaking out now. Azazie is estimating a new dress would come in on the 13th (yes, two days before the wedding), and that feels like it's cutting it a little close.

My big question is, I am going to get swatches from both David's Bridal and JJ's House, to see which one will match the color the bridesmaids will be wearing (the silver on Azazie). Should I even bother with looking at JJ's House? I've seen a lot of mixed reviews, and with it being so close, I worry that we will get stuck with something she doesn't like, or that really doesn't match the other dresses (if they're all in the same color, I worry that it will be ridiculously noticeable). Does anyone know if David's Bridal has a color that matches Azazie's silver? Is there somewhere online that matches that color that we could expedite shipping? Azazie doesn't seem to do expedited production/shipping anymore.

Please don't hate on A. I knew that there was going to be some point of drama with her, and the fact that this is it is such a relief (I thought she would forget to buy plane tickets). It's just a dress, but I want to help appease her nerves/stress as much as possible because she is really freaking out. Just help with where to look for a replacement would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

It’s just a mistake and mistakes happen. I don’t think anyone should hate on her for that. I’m sure you both have a lot of stress going on. For the dress, I say it wont hurt to just get a swatch from JJ house, I personally like them. Also if you can maybe take one of the BMs dresses with you to check out different stores and you can see with your own eyes how well they match. I get nervous trying to match colors online. I hope everything works out!

Same! I've ordered swatches from jjs, and am going to David's Bridal tonight to compare their swatches with my Azazie one.

Thanks for your help Smiley smile

If they sent the wrong size, and have good customer service, they should try to remedy the situation quickly. They're a seemingly large company with inventory, so it shouldn't take forever to swap out a dress. I would ask that they overnight or two day or whatever the fastest shipping they have available is, assuming they are in the wrong here.

Try to contact them first if it’s the wrong size. They may be able to help if you speak to them. If not, try David’s bridal, they do have a lot of options. Smiley smile

Agreed with PP I'd have her contact Azazie and see what they have to say. Can either you or her afford to buy a second dress? I would maybe suggest to have her order a dress in the size up now instead of waiting and then just return whichever dress doesnt fit.

    Hey Maggie!

Yes, she is going to look into getting a refund. Unfortunately, she had gotten the custom sizing (it's free on azazie), and they are a little stricter on their returns/refunds for those. We are going to have to make sure the measurements she sent them are different than the dress she got. Also it's been like two months since she technically received the dress, even though she hasn't seen it because she sent it to the wrong place.

I will be able to afford to purchase a new dress for her, and her parents have also offered, so that won't be a big problem. It's just a matter of where we can get it...

Oh I see. I'm not familiar with Azazie so I wasnt sure how their return policy works. I was thinking that you could proactively order the dress now to lessen the wait time, but that doesnt seem like itll help. Sorry I couldn't give any better advice, I'm sorry both of you are going through so much stress. Fingers crossed itll just fit when she tries it on and you won't need to worry Smiley smile

Does azazie have a rush order option? If it’s not on their website call and ask. I’m sure they can try to work with you. But stay calm. Everything is going to turn out perfect!
