Brides with One Videographer vs. Two

Meaghan, on January 31, 2014 at 12:33 PM Posted in Planning 0 11

Can someone who had a single videographer instead of two or more tell me how your video turned out and if you got the coverage you wanted? Looking at prices, I want two videographers (from the same company) but the extra person takes me beyond a comfortable budget. Did one person work out well for you?

I am hiring two photographers and 1 of them is doing video/pics and the other is just doing pics.

I think if you have two photopgraphers it may be ok ..but if you wanna ensure you get a lot of coverage go with 2

A lot of videographers can also set up a second camera (or more) on a tripod for the ceremony, so that you can at least have multiple angles for the ceremony. I probably would have gone with just one videographer to save money if we'd had that option, but the studio we're using works in pairs, so we're "stuck" with two Smiley tongue

We had one videographer and I wish I had been able to ahve 2. Although she did a great job, she could only be in one place at a time and so we missed some angles as well as in depth prep footage.

I had one, and two would’ve been nice. Looking back now I would’ve paid the extra money for a second.

I'm having two videographers for the ceremony but only one for the reception. Is that an option?

Thanks for the responses everyone! Danielle - yes, I have the option for two videographers at the ceremony and one at the reception, and that may be the way we go if I can't figure out how to squeeze out enough money for the full two videographer coverage. We are only having one photographer, so being able to have that second person filming would be a huge help. Fingers crossed that I can rearrange some other budget areas...or successfully rob a bank...or something Smiley smile

We had 2 photographers and 1 videographer. I think if you can afford it 2 would be better but I was still happy with the video with just 1 videographer and it was much more affordable.

Here's my video highlight if you want to see how it turned out

I have one photographer and two videographers. I just lucked out that the package I picked came with an extra shooter. They will also use a tripod and two free moving cameras. One will be the reception though.

I definitely think 2 cameras is necessary for coverage during the ceremony. However, having two videographers isn't always necessary. Some videographers have two cameras but work by themselves. You can set one camera up as a "wide" camera and then the videographer is roaming around doing close ups. After the ceremony however, two cameras I don't think is necessary. The most important thing for video after the ceremony is speeches and for the most part, the couple sits near whoever is going speeches so you can get everyone in one shot. So if you are worried about hiring 2 videographers when you could maybe save some money, I would try to see if you can find someone that shoots with two cameras or hire a 2nd videographer for just the ceremony.
