Brides who dont EAT!!

Angel_D, on August 28, 2015 at 5:15 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 23

I went for my 3rd dress fitting Tuesday afternoon - this time i had to put on my shoes so seamstress could pin the bustle and stand still... while that was going on i suddenly started to feel faint, sweating cold and dizzy i asked my mom to hand me water, she did, didnt help... i told my mom i dont feel well --- had to sit down for a while

i was surprised to hear the ladies at the shop say brides pass out all the time during their fittings! WHAT!?? they asked me if i ate, i said i had a soup for lunch cuz i didnt want to come into the fitting with a bloated tummy from food. lol smh

moral of the story-- eat brides, eat!

ps: it was a hot day, plus the dress is heavy, plus standing still, plus no food...i had worked out earlier, it took a toll.

This also holds true for the day of your wedding. MAKE SURE YOU EAT AT YOUR WEDDING! You don't want to faint on your special day either.

My seamstress also told me that looking down or standing too still with mirrors around can cause those feelings too. Something about it messing with your equalibrium. She made me close my eyes and face ahead while she did the hem.

I remember standing at the altar thinking "Don't pass out . Bend your knees. Don't pass out." It's so easy to lock your legs when you are standing in a heavy dress with everyone staring at you.

Stay hydrated too!!! I plan to start drinking more water than usual a few days before the big day just to make sure my system is well hydrated!

And I have a hard enough time eating breakfast already. I know I know most important meal of the day. I just am not hungry in the morning and am rushed to get to work. I guess I need to make a point to eat my five small meals a day... Don't want to drop at the altar!

Yep..I was so busy the day of my fitting that I was a little late and had no time to eat and the same thing happened to me! Plus I got a major headache. Lesson learned! Glad you are okay Smiley smile

Are you sure you didn't just swoon because you looked so good in your dress?

Seriously, YES...EAT! And if nothing else, drink plenty of water.

Everyone keeps saying "oh I didn't eat at my wedding." And I'm like I'm paying for this whole thing I better eat. But at my shower last weekend, I was so overwhelmed that I barely ate anything. So I'm going to designate a person to make me eat the day of the wedding. Otherwise I think I'd be too crazy to.

It doesn't necessarily relate to having eaten (or not). I nearly passed out the first time I tried on wedding gowns, and I had eaten a hearty lunch. I thought it was because they laced up the corset too tight, but my mom says it's because you're trying on a wedding gown, period Smiley smile lol

Sort of on the same topic, everyone kept telling me to make sure I ate at the wedding and I definitely had the opportunity to but I was so full of adrenaline that I didn't WANT to eat at the reception. I tried a few bites because like @MrJonesAndMe said, we paid a lot of money for the food but I wasn't hungry at all. I did eat a good breakfast that morning though so no fainting or dizzy spells for me.

Oh, and at the altar, don't lock your knees. I'm in a choir and every year someone passes out because they're standing with their knees locked.

Also tell your groom to eat. The coordinator at the church said, "The last groom that passed out held up the wedding 15 minutes..." Thanks, lady.

My grandparents used to run a video business and someone would pass out at almost every wedding they filmed in the summers. Usually a VIP. Drink water and eat!

I've never had anyone pass out on me when doing a fitting, but several people (fittings for bridal, proms, and quinceneras) have complained of feeling sick or faint so we get them water.

One of those girls unfortunately was being rude when I did her fitting because she turns to her mother and starts speaking in Spanish after she sits and I offer to get her a bottle of water. My Spanish speaking co-worker, who is working on another fitting at the same time hears her and translated for me; the girl had ended up complaining about how slow I was going on her hem when it was a very difficult hem on a prom dress and had more layers than a typical prom dress should

    @dancingbearbride yes!!!!

Also pedialyte ladies!!! Although I hate how sugary it tastes, it is my go to for getting back on track after being dehydrated (I get stomach bugs like its my day job).

I almost fainted at a dress shop. I agree with other posters about it messing with equilibrium and mirrors. I was fine until I stood up on the podium and had 5 mirrors around me - it made the floor look like it was moving and I got dizzy/car sick feeling. I had to sit down. Nothing like that ever happened to me before, ever.
