Brides who are planning/had a Catholic Wedding Mass: Who presented the gifts for communion?

Kait M, on November 7, 2016 at 7:18 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

We are working on making our selections for our wedding mass (readings, psalms, vows, etc) and one of the things our booklet asks us is who will present the bread and wine for communion (who will bring it up the aisle to the alter). It gives us the options of us doing it, parents or other.

Who did you choose to do this at your mass? I haven't been to another Catholic wedding in years so I don't know what the norm is. We talked about asking our godmothers to do it.

I think godmothers would be very appropriate. If you decide to do it yourselves, make sure he gets the wine so you don't risk spilling it on your dress!

I've only been to one full catholic mass recently, and the bride and groom did it but they said they forgot all about assigning someone to do it, haha. I'm not sure what we'll do.

Our readers brought them to the front and gave them to us and then we presented them to the Priest and Deacon.

Godmothers are a good idea. I think I'm going to ask my cousins. I did a reading for one of their weddings ( I have a large family with lots of cousins, so it was her way of including us in the wedding)

We are planning our Wedding Mass and it's such a beautiful process! So fun to hear from someone else planning a Catholic wedding Mass! I love the idea of the godparents, but his godfather is the priest marrying us, so we're going to ask our Moms! Smiley smile God bless the rest of your planning!
