Hey ladies! I’m getting married May 9th, 2020, and I’m just curious is anyone else still moving forward with their big day? I am going with the flow and still hoping for the best that our day doesn’t get postponed! I see a lot of brides out their postponing so it makes me question if I should be or if I’m crazy for not postponing?? Also, I’m from MN and so far we aren’t in lockdown. That would be the ONLY way I would postpone is if there was a lockdown during our big day! Otherwise we are rolling with the punches and going with the flow. What about everyone else??

We originally booked our wedding in May 17th in Chicago but we postponed to November because guests are mainly from other states and countries. You cane still wait and closely monitor situation if your guests live in your state. Thank you.

Where in upstate New York are you? I’m upstate and we’re in pretty much lockdown near us. Our wedding is August 8 and we’re hoping things slow down by then. I’m concerned about the large gatherings portion of it all. My shower is supposed to be May 3 and we’re thinking that will most likely be cancelled along with bachelorette. This is all such a mess, but we’re hoping to wait it out a bit. We were going to just get married (courthouse if needed) on our original date and postpone the party. Everything I have has 8/8 on it haha 🙈 we got engaged November of 2018, I can’t imagine waiting an entire year!

I’m a teacher so we waited for the summer to come around, not thinking we’d be planning for the apocalypse of 2020 😢

Our wedding is May 31st, and I'm kinda worried. I did talk to the venue and everything is still set to so as planned. I am going forward with everything until I hear otherwise.

We called all the counties around us and luckily one county was still allowing people in and we got ours last Friday! I would just call around and see if that’s an options!

    Hi Chantell,
My wedding is on May 3rd, and I’m still moving forward with my wedding plans. I made up my mind if we have to postpone the wedding we will still be getting married on May 3rd. My venue and vendors are still good to go with our scheduled wedding plans too!

Our wedding is May 09, 2020 also! They said they will let us know by April 15th but we just ask our wedding insurance what our options are. 🤨 this has me concerned because if we had to move our date that’s ok, but if we have to cancel they will not refund us.

    Marina,

I totally understand! I actually did some crying today. Smiley cry I put so much into our wedding, including my FH and I paying for everything ourselves. I'm just trying to keep faith that everything will work out. If we have to we will still get married on May 3rd and have the wedding later. Just know, you are not alone!

Hi! I’m getting married May 9th. We are holding out all hope we are able to have some sort of a ceremony/reception- even if a smaller guest list. We are in Philly and pretty much on lock down. The only venue options for postponing are pretty much weekdays as well, not ideal. We are still legally getting married on 5/9 - but don’t have a marriage license yet. Any recommendations for going about getting one when everything is closed?

The only thing I can think of is getting an officiant who can marry you but than you have to apply for a marriage license thru the state.

My wedding date is May 16th and we are talking about postponing it because our state is basically in lockdown mode. I have contacted all of our vendors to see if another date that we were given from our venue would work and everyone so far has been very supportive and will work with us. We are not making our final decision until April 6th. Our honeymoon hotel reservation and flight got cancelled today so that part really sucks! Just finding it hard to stay positive when there is one thing after another - I mean just less than 60 days away!

    Hi Chantell,

May 9, 2020 was our original wedding date. I'm in Maryland and we have a lot of things shut down by the Governor. My caterer had to temporarily close as a result of all of this COVID-19 stuff. We had no choice but to reschedule. Our new date is August 29, 2020. We are still getting legally married on our original date with just immediate family (a total of less than 10 people). We will have our big formal wedding and reception in August.

I hope all works out for you!!!

So sorry that you're worrying! I honestly think by August things will be so much better. I'm no scientist but I feel like the peak will be coming in the next few weeks , things will slow down, and then in May and June things will start getting back to normal. Especially with the warmer weather coming!

I live in the Buffalo area. Everything is closed here and there really are not many people out at all. I just rescheduled my wedding for July 18th, praying things are fine by then.

I hope you can go through with everything as planned! My best friend is a teacher too, she's also getting married this summer and plans to go to Europe on her honeymoon but that might not be happening now. This is horrible and is so stressful for us brides! Thinking of you!

If we have to seriously cut down our guest list, how we "uninvite" people depends on the number we we're allowed to include.

If it's 10 or 25, we'll reschedule the reception with our original venue when we cancel our current date, so we'll just update our website and send out new save the dates to everyone.

If it's 50 or more and our venue doesn't make us cancel, we'll probably send out a better-written/more cheerful version of this:

    Hi!

We hope you're doing well. When we sent you a save the date earlier this year, it was because we really wanted to you be with us when we got married. Right now what we really want is for all of our family and friends to stay as healthy as possible. We hope you'll join us in celebrating our new marriage when it becomes safe enough to do so (details to follow). Until then, wash your hands and stay home, please!

    Love, J+A

We'll invite them (and the people who actually came to the wedding) to a more casual reception/party at some point in the future.

So we decided this morning to move our June wedding to June 2021. .. we are going to try and do a courthouse wedding get married this June and then have our celebration on our one year anniversary with friends and family. We had a destination wedding planned and couldn’t deal with the stress anymore of thinking is this going to happen or not... I held out as long as I could but I still want it wear my dress I paid too damn much for that thing to not get the wedding I had planned! Good luck to everyone in their decisions!
