Hey ladies! I’m getting married May 9th, 2020, and I’m just curious is anyone else still moving forward with their big day? I am going with the flow and still hoping for the best that our day doesn’t get postponed! I see a lot of brides out their postponing so it makes me question if I should be or if I’m crazy for not postponing?? Also, I’m from MN and so far we aren’t in lockdown. That would be the ONLY way I would postpone is if there was a lockdown during our big day! Otherwise we are rolling with the punches and going with the flow. What about everyone else??

Ours is scheduled for June 13, and we too will be getting married that day as long as we can get our license since our courthouse is currently closed. Reception may have to wait too.

We have been engaged for 1 1/2 years and I am 63 y/o and my FIRST wedding.

We are really hoping everything will be ok by then too.

    Hi Cheryl,
First congratulations on your engagement. We have rescheduled our wedding until July 25th. We also changed our venue, due to financial comparisons. It may be a bit premature but we had to cut some costs. Our courthouse is closed still, and as soon as it opens back we are going to grab a license. I'm hopeful, and praying this ordeal is over quickly. Don't give up hope.

    Hi Chantell,
Have you gotten your marriage license? We are in Florida because the courthouse is closed. Hoping for the best.

My Maid of Honor and Matron of Honor is working on planning my bridal shower. California is at leave for essentials only so we are doing everything one step at a time in order to comply with stay-at-home orders and social distancing. We shall see how this goes.

Yaaay!!!! Fingers crossed that you remain lockdown free and can proceed.

We are scheduled for July 11th, 2020 in Las Vegas, NV. Right now both California (where we reside) and Nevada are under stay-at-home orders so we are playing it by ear. It sounds like the 3 phased reopening of the country may allow us to still get married on our date at our destination.

I would deff go through if you are not in lockdown and I have seen in the news that your state is not so hard hit. I am in Ohio and we are doing pretty good as well. Most of our positive cases are in prison or a nursing home. My wedding is 10/31/20 so I am hoping for the best. Kinda sucks getting married the year of the corona but I don't want to postphone either then kick myself if everything is okay in October.

Hi, Megan! I have thought about how I may need to do a bachelorette party and bridal shower after our wedding depending on how things turn out. I see that you are currently planning for that option, and I wanted to know what your thoughts were on doing those things after the main event? Do you think it will be the same kind of experience?

I know that other brides have had to cancel the shower and bach party, but I want the WHOLE wedding experience. I am only getting married once, so I want it all!

Hi Mandy! My bridal showers will definitely be after the wedding & I’m having a version of my bachelorette party before (maybe). My girls plus a few are supposed to be getting a cabin in the woods somewhere & getting a little wild lol. But, after, I want to get together with as many of them as possible & actually go out & do the thing. Personally, I think it’ll be about the same. Maybe even better. Instead of anticipating the wedding & finishing planning, it’ll all be over & we will be celebrating the marriage! It’s been hard. About a month ago it seemed like everything had crumbled when I realized everything before needed to be postponed. Thankfully, things are looking up & our day looks like it will get to happen, which at this point is all I can ask for. I hope I was able to answer your question & I hope you get all the awesome things! I agree, I want all the things, even if they’re a little out of order!

That is a great way to look at it! Thanks for that as it made me feel better!

Your bachelorette get togethers sound like fun, and I hope you enjoy them! Fingers crossed that our weddings are everything we have ever dreamed of!

We were able to get our license last week online. They called us to swear us in, and get the license in the mail on Thursday and I was able to get fitted for my dress last week too. Things are looking up. We are getting married at our house with a total of 10 including us on our original date June 13, 2020.

Maybe next year a vow renewal and one year anniversary party!
Congrats to you as well and good luck!

I am getting married in 18 days!

We had already planned on eloping and had to make some adjustments (it was gonna be on the Oregon coast, but now it will be locally in WA at a VRBO). I want to be married to him ASAP more than I want to have my dream venue on the coast. But I didn't have to worry about as many cancellations and money lost like those who have planned a traditional wedding/reception.

Stay strong ladies! Having to change your plans can be pretty emotional, and it's okay to mourn the loss of what you had originally planned.
