My thought is that this is a personal decision that's up to nobody else but you and FI!

It’s a personal preference. Nothing bad will happen if you do or don’t. Some couples don’t sleep well when they are separated.

Aww, poor Mom. It's hard not to give in to superstitions! My husband and I eloped when we got married, and we slept in our own bed as usual since we had been living together for 5 years prior. Thirteen years later, here we are! The sky didn't fall, or anything.

Maybe just tell Mom you slept on the couch. Smiley shame

My husband and I stayed together the night before our wedding. We didn't want to have to pay for an extra hotel room, and we did a first look before our ceremony, so we felt like since we were already throwing the tradition out the window, it really didn't matter if we stayed together the night before or not. It's totally a personal decision!

Much to my moms dismay (😂), we'll be spending the night before our wedding together. We already live together and are in the process of building a house, so I guess some could say we're already "living in sin." haha. Plus, I honestly just don't sleep well when I'm not with him. I will be up all night off and on. We also decided that it's our big day and what's important to us is getting to start our wedding day together that morning having coffee & breakfast before going separate ways until our first look! 💓

It all comes down to personal preference to be honest! Some spiritual beliefs can determine what you do as well. For instance, some cultures say it’s best to be separate. Other people already live together so it makes sense you are together the night before. Do what you think is best and communicate with your soon to be honey on the best decision. :-)

Totally up to your preference! Some people really want to hold to the tradition of not seeing each other the day of the wedding. Some people are superstitious, and think it may be bad luck. Other people don’t want to deal with the hassle of arranging separate places to sleep, and others find it hard to sleep without their spouse and don’t want to be tired the day of their wedding. While we aren’t superstitious, my Fiancé did want to stay separately the night before, so we didn’t see each other the day of. It was more about building the suspense of finally seeing each other at the alter that evening! I thought it was cute, so I agreed. However, since we had a destination wedding, it was just too complicated and expensive to work out those details, so we ended up staying together the night before. And I’m super glad we did now! We got to get a good nights sleep and wake up together excited for the wedding. We shared breakfast and a morning coffee together, then we went our separate ways for the rest of the day.

Is a personal preference. However I am spending the night before with my fiancé. Seems silly to be apart for an outdated tradition.

LOL, we'd lived with each other for years at that point. The jig is up! We weren't interested in doing anything performative.
