Bridal Shower Thank you Help

Tori, on August 2, 2021 at 8:11 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10

Hey! I had a few people that I invited to my bridal shower not come due to other plans or having to travel. They did not send a gift or a card. Should I still send them a thank you card stating I missed them at the shower and hope to see them at the wedding or no? I do not know if these people will be attending the wedding yet.

Thank you!!

I probably would not - there's nothing to thank them for if they didn't attend or send a gift. I am an over-thinker, but I wonder if a thank you card might come across as a gentle censure to these people for NOT attending, almost a bit sarcastic?

Good question. I don’t know what the proper etiquette is here and I probably did not follow it. I only sent Thank You cards to those who attended

A thank you card is used to thank someone. They didn't attend or send a gift, so there isn't anything to thank them for. As a previous poster said, it would likely come across as sarcastic.

Totally agree with everyone- sending a thank you card might come across as sarcastic (unintentionally). Only send thank you cards to those who attended &/or sent a gift.

I would not for the same reasons that the PPs stated. Could also come across as if you're fishing for a gift

What exactly would you be thanking them for?

I think a thank you card will come off wrong. I would leave it.

I don’t think that’s necessary. I’d only send thank you cards for those that attended/have a gift.
